One of the most attractive destinations within Antigua and Barbuda is located on the island of Antigua and is the Church and Convent of St. Dominic. This destination is most visited by tourists enthusiastic about the history, culture, and religion of the country.

This convent was founded in 1542 by Dominican friars and became the largest monastery on the island. Unfortunately, this convent has had a rather difficult history, after 3 earthquakes in the 18th century, it was looted to obtain construction materials and was left in abandonment. Then in 1970 it was acquired by an American archaeologist and used as a private residence. Thanks to this acquisition this area was restored and inaugurated as a cultural route.

The cultural zone includes the picturesque monastery church, the adjacent cloister, workshops of candle and pottery makers, and finally two subway crypts. The main one is the Crypt of Calvary, which contains a mural of the Crucifixion dating from 1683.

Also part of this tourist route, the Museum of Silverware, the Colonial Museum, the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art and Modern Glass, the Museum of Popular Arts and Crafts of Sacatepéquez, and finally the Museum of Pharmacy.
