Check all details below, including processing times, Australian government requirements, and how to submit the Australia ETA application form.

What is the Australian ETA?

The Australian government developed the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) to monitor visa-exempt nationals visiting the country. It’s electronically linked to your passport, and there’s no need for an Australian embassy appointment!

Travelers can enter Australia for tourism or business purposes with the ETA, also known under the category Subclass 601. It doesn’t allow you to live permanently or work in Australia.

The best thing about this document is that you can get an Australia ETA online in a few clicks. You must meet a few Australian government requirements, submit the visa application and wait to receive the document in your email inbox.

Who is eligible for the Australian ETA?

Are you from an ETA-eligible country? Only citizens from 7 countries currently can visit Australia with this electronic authorization: The eligible countries are: the United States, Canada, Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea.

Generally, European passport holders must apply for an Australian eVisitor Visa instead, which is just as easy with iVisa!

Children and minors must also apply for a valid visa to travel to Australia. If you use our visa services, you can include all your family members in the same application. We will process all applications separately and you'll receive one PDF document for each traveler once they are approved.

What are the Australian ETA requirements?

You only need the following info and documents to complete your Electronic Travel Authority form:

  • Valid passport – Provide your passport details. The document must remain valid for at least six months after arrival in Australia.
  • Email address – To receive your Australia ETA confirmation.
  • Payment method – Credit or debit card.

Remember, visitors are not allowed to apply for their ETA from Australia. You must complete your Electronic Travel Authorization form from your country of origin.

Be aware that those with criminal convictions will be automatically not eligible for an Australia ETA or eVisitor application process. Contact your nearest Australian embassy or consulate if that’s the case.

How long does it take to get an Australian ETA?

Eligible travelers can apply online for an ETA with us! It’s the quickest way to get a permit to travel to Australia. Check all the processing details below.

We offer three processing options that suit every traveler’s timetable, explained below.

  • Australian ETA Standard Processing time: This is the most affordable option, and your application is processed in the fastest time possible.
  • Australian ETA Rush Processing time: If you want to get your Australia ETA sooner, choose this processing time and get your document soon than the standard option.
  • Australian ETA Super Rush Processing time: This option may be precisely what you need if time is of the essence.

While it is highly unlikely, delays may sometimes occur. If and when that happens, we will notify you via email.
