If you want to visit the birthplace of Vodun, mostly known as Vodoo, then Benin is the place to be. Vodoo is the official religion of the country, but that is not all it has to offer. The country is also rich in history with multiple palatial ruins, and the culture is fascinating. Seeing how average Beninese people live is an experience in itself. You cannot overlook Benin if you decide to take a tour of the West African continent. It is one of the safest places around, and you will have a lovely time.
As far as the visa is concerned, things are pretty simple. Benin has one of the most lenient visa policies in the world. Why is that? Because you either come from a visa-exempt country, or you can apply online for an electronic visa. The citizens of all African countries can enter Benin and stay there for up to 90 days. The same rule applies to the nationals of Haiti. The citizens of Hong Kong are also visa exempt, but they can stay in Benin for only 14 days. Even so, it is more than enough for a vacation.
All the other nationalities can enter Benin on an electronic visa. There is no nationality in the world that is required to visit a Beninese diplomatic mission. To find out which category you fall in, you can use our Visa Checker. Just choose Benin as your destination and the country of origin. You will know right away what you must do. The available Benin e-visas are the 30-day visa with single or multiple-entry, and the 90-day visa with multiple entries.

As for the requirements, this is not a complicated part either. Benin’s visa policy is lenient when it comes to conditions as well. All you need is to have a valid passport. However, it is not enough for the passport to be valid only when you enter the country. It needs to remain as such for at least another 6 months from your date of arrival in Benin. Basically, all you have to do is take a look at your passport’s expiry date and make sure it does not expire before it should. Other than that, ensure that you have sufficient blank pages for the stamps.
