Off the beaten track : Ream National Park

With 210 square kilometers of incredible landscapes, Ream National Park host a great diversity of ecosystems and species. Beaches, mangroves, rainforest and coral reefs are some of the most prominent natural jewels that the park guards within its borders.
The park is divided by a large river named Prek Teuk Sap, which flows into the ocean at Ream National park, forming one of the most beautiful and fertile estuaries on earth. Two twin mountains draw the incredible landscape of Ream National Park, home to almost 7.000 species. To fully enjoy the many wonders that the park has to offer, visitors have to get off the beaten track, discovering the beautiful beaches and mangroves of the area. There are many boat tours around the area, as well as beach resorts and two restaurants. The options and itineraries are endless, but it is advisable to book some guided trekking routes in order to experience the wild side of the country to the fullest.
Despite its biodiversity and environmental relevance, a reduced number of tourist visit this park every year. This is mostly due to the to the poor infrastructure of the country and the lack of government tourist points.

Ream national park is easily reachable from Sihanoukville, which is roughly 20 kms away. Guided visits and transport can be easily arranged from this city.

To visit Cambodia you are required to have a working tourist visa, which has a cost of US$35 and a passport valid for more than six months. For most nationalities, visas can be obtained upon arrival at both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap International airports, but most tourist purchase online visas through the E-visa website. It is advisable to apply for your visa for Cambodia with a few weeks in advance in order to prevent potential delays in the application process.

If you are planning to travel to Cambodia for business, you are required to apply for a business visa In order to obtain a valid visa, both tourist and business travelers are required to have a passport sized photo and a passport valid for more than six months. All visas have a duration of 30 days and are valid for a period of three months from the issue date. Both tourist and business visas offer the possibility of extending your permit up to one year. If you wish to extend your stay in Cambodia, you must visit the Immigration Department of the National Police.

A departure tax is charged on all domestic and international flights, and ranges from US$6 to US$25 depending on the type of flight.
