When we plan road trips we usually start off by booking a car or checking out all the cities we would like to see. Before getting all hooked up on your road trip around Canada, I suggest you obtain your online visa first and get that out of the way. I have simplified the process in 5 simple steps:
1- What is an Online Visa? It is important to understand what an online visa means before going online and applying for one.
The online visa is an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). An ETA is an electronically stored authority for travelling to Canada. It replaces the visa label or stamp in the passport. It is a new entry requirement the Canadian Government began asking for since March 15, 2016. It gives you the permission to enter Canada for short-term stays, tourism or business visitor activities.
All non-citizens require a Visa or Electronic Travel Authorization to enter Canada. Exceptions include U.S. citizens/nationals and Saint-Pierre and Miquelon residents.
All visa-exempt foreign nationals are expected to have an ETA to fly to or transit through Canada.
You can enter Canada as many times as you want for the duration of 5 years from the date your ETA is granted, or until the expiry date of your passport, whichever comes first.
2- Where to Obtain Online Canada Visa? I obtained the online Canada visa at https://www.ivisa.com/apply-online/canada. The way the iVisa application works is simple and effective. It only takes three simple steps to obtain your visa:
You can also apply for an online visa at the government website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/eta.asp
3- How to Obtain Online Canada Visa? To obtain the online visa fill out the online application. It is very straightforward and is quickly done.
Once you fill out the online application, you will receive your visa via e-mail. All you need for the application is a valid passport and you will have to answer simple background questions. The, print your e-mail and have ready to show at immigrations.
4- When to Apply for Online Canada Visa? I suggest you apply as soon as you buy your ticket to Canada. Once you apply for the visa online you will receive this one in less than 24 hours.
5- Pay the Service Fee: iVisa charges $20 for the online Canada visa. Government websites usually don’t charge a fee but are more confusing and will take longer to deliver the online visa.
