Swiss citizens, together with other 53 nationalities, are exempt from getting a Canada visa when they travel there for short visits. However, if you reach the country by air, you need to obtain a Canada ETA before you leave. The electronic travel authorization can be purchased online, and with iVisa, you can get it in just 30 minutes.

Canada Visa for the citizens of Switzerland – the requirements

One of the first things on your mind should be meeting the requirements. You should not find that difficult since the Canada ETA is not a very demanding document to apply for. What you need is as follows:

  • Passport – all applicants who wish to obtain a Canada ETA must be passport holders. However, before you apply, check your passport’s expiry date because it needs to maintain its validity for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Canada.
  • E-mail address – while the Canada ETA is electronically linked to your passport, you will receive a copy of the authorization via e-mail in PDF format. You are not required to have a physical copy on you, but you can still print one out just in case you need it.
  • Means of payment – during the online application process, you will be required to make the payment. iVisa is versatile as far as paying for its services goes, which is why you can use a credit or debit card, but PayPal, Alipay, and WeChat are also valid methods of payment. You can use the one that is most convenient for you.

Canada Visa for the citizens of Switzerland – the online application form

After you gather everything necessary for the online application process, you can proceed to fill in the form. You should not spend more than 20 minutes completing this task, but if you need assistance, you can contact iVisa’s customer support day or night. The service can be reached both via online chat and phone, and it does not charge.

The form consists of three short steps. Step number one wants you to provide your personal information, as well as to choose a processing time for your application. As for the latter, keep in mind that the option you select determines the cost of your Canada ETA. You can opt for one of the following:

  • Standard processing – this is the slowest and cheapest option you are given by iVisa. Your application is processed in 24 hours, but you only have to pay $19.50 for your ETA.
  • Rush processing – if you are looking for a faster option, then you should go for this one. Your Canada ETA is ready within 2 hours since your request is submitted, and the cost is $49.50.
  • Super Rush processing – since this is the fastest option at hand, it is the most expensive. You are charged $69.50, but your application is processed within only 30 minutes.

Step number two wants you to insert your payment details so that it can go through, but you also have to carefully read your form to make sure there are no mistakes in it. Otherwise, the ETA you receive is invalid and you have to repeat the process for a new ETA.

Step three expects you to provide iVisa with the documents that support your application. You are asked to upload them. When you are finished, submit your request, and all you can do at that point is to wait. iVisa will take it from there.

The bottom line is that the citizens of Switzerland are not required to apply for a Canada visa when they plan a short trip. However, you do need to get a Canada ETA before your departure. The authorization keeps its validity for 5 years, period in which you can travel to Canada as many times as you wish. You can stay there for up to 6 months per visit.
