iVisa.com recommends

Situated on the northeast coast of the Horn of Africa, the country of Djibouti is abundant and rich in beauty. Approximately ninety percent of Djibouti’s land is a desert but the landscape is varied and extreme, with rugged mountains to the north.

Djibouti has no permanent rivers, only salt lakes in the desert. It has the Grand Bara desert which covers the southern part of Djibouti but the Gulf of Tadjoura is one of the richest areas in the world for coral and fish species located in eastern Djibouti. Djibouti also has its share of ornamental fishes in the Gulf of Aden.

The country is abundant in flora and fauna. In the northern part of the country, you will find the ancient Day Forest National Park and a variety of tree species, such as jujube, fig, olive, juniper, and momosa. To the south and southwest of the Gulf of Tadjoura, the vegetation is similar to that found in other arid desert regions of Africa. Among the types of fauna are a wide variety of bird species, numerous types of antelopes and gazelles, and a limited numbers of carnivores (such as cheetahs) and scavengers (such as hyenas), as well as monkeys, squirrels, and warthogs. Perhaps most incredible is the extremely rich diversity of marine life found along Djibouti’s coastline and coral reefs.
