Ethiopia visa for Canadian citizens

Alt Text Canadian travelers can now enjoy a hassle-free process to get their visas when they want to travel to Ethiopia. The Ethiopian government has allowed for the visas to be released online, and you can do so by using the services provided by iVisa. However, you need to travel by plane and land on Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

If you use another point of entry and a different means of transportation, you must go to the Ethiopian embassy to get your visa.

What documents are required?

As you can imagine, there are a few documents you need in order to get started. There is nothing out of the ordinary, and chances are that you already have everything you are required. Here is what you need:

  • A valid passport – the passport needs to keep its validity for at least another six months after you arrive in Ethiopia

  • A digital copy of your passport

  • A digital passport-sized photo of yourself – preferably as recent as possible

  • A residence permit – this requirement applies only to Canadians who apply from another country other than Canada. A letter or a visa sticker in your passport will suffice.

How do you apply?

The application form is easy to comprehend. The entire task should only take 20 minutes, and if you need some assistance, iVisa has a 24/7 support service that is ready to take your call and help you through the process. There are three steps that you need to complete. The first step consists of filling in your basic information like name, address, phone number, email address, and so on. That part is elementary. You also need to select the processing time of your visa. You have three options. The Standard will release your Ethiopia evisa in three business days, the Rush processing will have your application processed within two business days, and the Super Rush processing means that your visa will be ready within one business day. Delays may occur, but you will be notified if and when that happens. Once you go through all that, you can move on to step two.

The second step of the application will ask you to revise everything you will have done so far. You are also required to make the payment. You can do that by using your credit/debit card or your Paypal account. In the last step, you will need to upload additional documents (the ones listed above.) After you are done, you can submit your application and wait for your visa to arrive via email in PDF format. Do not forget to print it.

Ethiopia visa fees

The price for your visa depends on two factors. First, you need to select the validity of the document. You can choose between the 30-day visa and the 90-day visa. The processing service has the same fees, but there is a 20$ difference between the two. The second factor is the processing time you select in step one of your application. The Standard costs 87$ (107$ for the 90-day stay), the Rush is 117$ (137$ for the 90-day visit), and the Super Rush processing is 152$ (172$ for the 90-day stay.) In Canadian dollars, that would be 114.52 (140.85,) 154.01 (180.34,) and 200.09 (226.42) respectively.

The bottom line is that getting an Ethiopia visa is easy for Canadian citizens. Thanks to iVisa, you are spared of all that trouble you need to go through when you apply at the embassy. But this way, you just barely make an effort.
