Visa Policy for Ethiopia

The Ethiopia Visa Policy states the rules and regulations that determine whether a traveler needs to apply for a travel authorization or visa to enter and stay in Ethiopia. The visa requirements for Ethiopia depend on the nationality of the traveler, the intended time of stay, and the purpose of travel. This can be determined by checking the Ethiopia Visa Policy.

Fill me in

As per the Ethiopia Visa Policy, citizens of only two countries don’t require a travel authorization or visa to enter Ethiopia.

According to the Ethiopia Visa Policy, passport holders of around 230 countries in the world can apply for an electronic travel authorization or e-visa to visit and stay in Ethiopia if they are planning to travel by air.

Every traveler who is eligible for the application of an e-visa must apply for a visa to enter the country. This can be a visa on arrival or an embassy visa. To get a visa on arrival, the traveler needs to wait in the long queue at border checkpoints to apply for a visa by submitting a visa application. To obtain an embassy visa, the traveler needs to visit the nearest Ethiopian Embassy.

Tourist Visa Policy for Ethiopia

Based on the nationality of the visitors, the Ethiopia Visa Policy differs for the people traveling to the country.

According to the Ethiopia Visa Policy, citizens of only two nations, Kenya and Djibouti can enter Ethiopia without a visa. However, passport holders of two hundred and thirty countries are allowed to visit Ethiopia for short trips with an e-visa.

To obtain an e-visa, these citizens have to apply for it online and get an approved tourist visa before boarding the flight from their country of origin.

Also, passport holders of two countries can apply for a visa on arrival. However, these citizens can also improve their travel experience by applying online for an e-visa. As per the Ethiopia Visa Policy, citizens of around 10 countries are not eligible for e-visa. So, they have to apply for an embassy visa to enter Ethiopia for tourism purposes regardless of their length of stay in the country.

Those citizens who are eligible for e-visa application if they wish to visit the country for other purposes or for a longer period can apply for a visa by visiting the nearest Ethiopian Embassy.

Ethiopia e-Visa
