Visa Policy for Finland

The Finland Visa Policy is a great way to establish the list of foreign residents who are visa-exempt and who require a travel authorization or visa to visit Finland. The requirements of a visa vary for different visitors depending on the citizenship of the visitor, the reason for the trip, and the intended period of stay.

Fill me in

As Finland has signed the agreement with the Schengen zone, the Finland Visa Policy is similar to the Visa Policies of other Schengen countries. That means the citizens of any of the Schengen countries can enter Finland without applying for a visa or travel authorization. They just need to present a National ID at the port of entry.

As suggested by the Finland Visa Policy, there are a few countries that are visa-exempt but do not fall under the category of the Schengen zone. The citizens of these countries require a passport to visit Finland for short trips for a particular reason. However, by 2022, citizens of these countries need to apply for a travel authorization, ETIAS to visit Finland.

According to the Finland Visa Policy, citizens of the rest of the countries of the world need to apply for a Schengen Visa to visit Finland for any purpose.

Below is the detailed information about the Finland Visa Policy, visa categories, visa requirements, and validity of a visa.

Tourist Visa Policy for Finland

The Finland Visa Policy states that around ninety countries don’t need a visa to visit Finland for tourism purposes. Whereas passport holders of around one hundred and fifty countries and territories are required to apply for a Schengen Visa before traveling to Finland. As suggested by the Finland Visa Policy, if you are applying for an Embassy Tourist Visa or Schengen Visa, you need to visit the nearest Finland Embassy.

For tourists who are eligible for visa-free entry in Finland a valid passport at the border checkpoint is a must. For tourists who are coming from another country, a valid National ID is the only requirement to enter Finland. They are free to visit any area during their trip to Finland.

By 2022, all visitors traveling from the non-Schengen zone, the visa-exempt countries, need to apply for an ETIAS along with a passport to enter Finland for tourism purposes. To obtain an ETIAS, you just need to apply online by filling out a simple application form. You can go through the following section to learn more about the Finland Visa Policy and visa types.

Finland ETIAS

As per the recent announcement by the European Union, every citizen of any of the sixty-two visa-free countries applies for an ETIAS by 2022 to visit Finland and stay in the country for a short duration.

This visa type is an online multiple-entry travel authorization. With the utilization of an ETIAS, the citizens can visit and stay in Finland for 3 months within a period of 180 days. The maximum validity of this travel document is 3 years. During the validity of this document, the citizens can visit any country in the Schengen zone for medical, tourism, business, and transit purposes.

To apply for an ETIAS, the citizens have to fill in a simple application form available online. This form takes only a few minutes to complete. They have to give answers to some security and health questions in the application form as the ETIAS has been introduced to enhance border security.

After submission, the ETIAS will be electronically linked to the passport and an email will be sent to the passport holder.
