Maltese tourists can request thought iVisa the ordinary tourist visa for a short stay in Gabon (one to three months single entry, or 6 months with multiple entries) for tourism purposes. The application process for the tourist visa is really simple and easy since the Directorate General of Documentation and Immigration (DGDI) in Libreville is allowing visitors from different countries all over the world to apply for the online Visa (eVisa), with no need to go physically to the embassy to make a request for it.

Required documents

To complete the iVisa online application you need all the required documents mentioned below:

  • A Maltese valid passport. Make sure that the passport contains two blank pages and has at least six months of validity from the date of entry into Gabon, otherwise, you will see your request to enter the country denied.

  • A scanned copy of the passport to upload on the iVisa website.

  • A complete and correct visa application form. All the information presented must be up to date and must match the data on your passport.

  • A digital passport-sized color photo of yourself, taken in the last 6 months.

  • Yellow fever certificate requirements are mandatory. Besides that also the following vaccinations are recommended: typhoid, hepatitis (A and B), poliomyelitis, meningitis, as well as measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and diphtheria-tetanus-polio vaccine.

Gabon has started a “Visa on Arrival” in 2015 for all the tourists that want to visit Gabon and arrive via Leon M'ba International Airport in Libreville, meaning that you can directly request and get a tourist visa at the airport just paying a fee in cash. However, it is preferable to submit the visa request through the online iVisa website so that you will be notified of every step of the process and avoid unpleasant inconveniences that might lead to a Visa deny.   • Single entry up to 90 days; 70 EUR or 45000 XAF + 15 EUR as file processing fee.
  • Multiple entries up to 180 days; 185 EUR or 120000 XAF + 15 EUR as file processing fee.

Additional information

Please note that the e-Visa takes a minimum of 72 hours to process. The applicant is NOT allowed to travel before receiving an (ETA) electronic travel authorization receipt or the date specified on the application. Individuals that do not abide by the rules will be turned back upon arrival with respect as by following Gabonese immigration laws, and at their own expense.
