Georgia is a stunning country located in Eastern Europe. It has some of the highest mountain peaks and the most diverse climate in Europe, which makes this place very desirable for vacations. The country is one of the oldest wine producers, which is why one of its symbols is the grapevine. The culture is both fascinating and beautiful, and you will go back home with a ton of lovely memories.

The best time to visit Georgia is in the summer. It has a coastline along the Black Sea, so going to the beach is an option in the warm seasons. The temperatures are somewhat mild, but in the summer, it can get really hot. If you are not a fan of that, you can visit in the spring or autumn. It is not as crowded then either, so you may enjoy it more.

When it comes to visa policy, Georgia has a pretty lenient one. First of all, a lot of nationalities are visa exempt, meaning that they can enter the country with a passport. Some of them just need a national ID card. The stay can go as up as 1 year, although some tourists can only remain in the country for periods that cannot exceed 90 or 180 days.

Georgia’s visa policy also includes an electronic visa. A Georgia e-visa is available online for the citizens of 66 countries. The document can be obtained with a passport, and it ensures a stay of 90 days per 180-day period or 30 days per 120-day period, depending on the nationality of the holder.

All the other nationalities that are neither visa exempt nor eligible for a Georgia electronic visa must visit the nearest Georgian embassy and apply for a consular visa.

Georgia will give you numerous opportunities to visit beautiful locations. First and foremost, you must go to Tbilisi, which is the capital city of Georgia. You will see both old and modern buildings which are in a perfect mix. The second largest city is Batumi, located on the coast of the Black Sea. This is yet another place where the classical buildings are put together with modern skyscrapers and palm trees. The view is gorgeous.

Getting around in Georgia should not be an issue for you. The most commonly used means of travel used in the cities is the taxi. It is incredibly cheap compared to other countries, and the comfort is higher than when you travel by bus or train.

Communication may be an issue, especially if you choose to visit the rural area. The official language is Georgian, and it is as complicated as languages come. The excessive use of consonants is a fascinating thing for language fans, but for a tourist, it can be very difficult to pronounce. In the urban area, the younger generation speaks English. You should have no issues in getting along. However, when you move farther away from the metropolitan area, some Russian may come in handy. Since the Soviet Union was so close, Russian was taught in schools. Some tourists actually prefer to learn it as opposed to Georgian. Believe it or not, Russian is easier.

The most popular attractions in Georgia are ancient orthodox churches. Some of them are built in the mountains of Caucasus. The architecture is quite similar to the Armenian one, but there are a few distinctive parts. Surely, you will enjoy looking at all the details.

As far as activities are concerned, the best recommendation we can make is to go on trips and hikes. The countryside in Georgia is gorgeous, and the sights are stunning. You will see the most amazing scenery, especially in the mountains. Unless you are an experienced hiker, we advise that you hire a guide. The places you will see are, indeed, some of the most beautiful places on earth, but they are dangerous as well.

Georgian cuisine is something you cannot overlook. The food there is famous in the region and enjoyed as far as Moscow. If you travel to Moscow, you will find many Georgian restaurants that serve traditional food. The most popular dish is called khachapuri. It is a cheese-filled bread that resembles a cheese pie. It comes with almost every meal, so you may get sick of it if you spend a lot of time in Georgia. Another dish you have to try is the khinkali. It is spiced meat, minced, and put in a dumpling. People there eat this in enormous quantities. Your jaw might just drop when you see an adult eating 15 at a time. Lastly, you cannot leave Georgia until you try mtsvadi. Grilled chunks of marinated pork or veal are grilled and put on a stick with onions. The list of delicious meals can go on and on. They are all flavored with coriander, garlic, dill, and walnuts, which makes them incredibly tasty.

As you can imagine, Georgia is home to many incredible wines as well. Since we are talking about a people that made wine for the past 8000 years, their techniques result in fantastic taste. Georgians can easily compete with the Italians and the French when it comes to wine production. It is not called ‘Cradle of Wine’ for nothing.

As far as safety is concerned, Georgia has one of the lowest crime rates in Europe. You should not have issues of any kind. In the past, corruption was a problem, but not anymore. You still have to use your common sense when you are in large cities, but that rule applies to every city on earth. The most common issue is not getting passing priority on the streets. You need to be very careful both as a pedestrian and a driver if you choose to rent a car. Other than that, you will be perfectly safe.

Regarding your health, you can contract Giardia (parasite), but only if you do not wash your fruits or vegetables before consumption, you drink tap water, or you swallow water in jacuzzies, pools, rivers, and lakes. Other than that, there is no risk for your health. Quite the contrary. You will find many wellness centers, spas, and gyms on Georgia.

While in Georgia, make sure to pay respect to the culture and traditions. The Georgian people is not a religious one, but they are sensitive in other matters. For example, do not engage in discussions about the separatist regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which are supported by Russia.

As you will see, Georgia is a beautiful country. The scenery is incredible, the people are nice and welcoming, and you will have plenty to do and see. Make sure that you get your Georgia visa in case you need one and be on your way. You are going to have a fantastic experience.
