Visa Policy for Hungary

Those who wish to visit Hungary must follow the regulations, laws, and requirements imposed on them by the Hungary visa policy. Hungary is included in both the Schengen Area as well as the European Union's visa programs, and it is a part of the Schengen passport-free zone along with all the other EU members.

As a result, citizens of Schengen countries do not need to obtain a visa to visit Hungary, just show their National ID card, for a visit of any length and with any purpose. Those who travel to Hungary without a Schengen visa must travel with a passport valid for at least six months. They are allowed to stay up to 90 days on tourist or transit visas. These visa-free citizens must remember, though, that as the ETIAS visa waiver program is implemented starting in 2022 to improve the security of the Schengen external borders, travel to Hungary for the same purpose will come with an additional requirement. Multiple-entry electronic travel authorizations are accessible through a simple online application, and, once approved, they are electronically linked to the traveler’s passport. During its 3 year-validity period, it allows multiple entries for short stays.

Regardless of the period and purpose of the intended stay, travelers without visa exemptions for Hungary must obtain a Schengen visa at the nearest Hungarian embassy or consulate in advance. Tourist Visa Policy for Hungary

According to Hungary visa policy, tourists from more than 90 countries are not required to obtain a visa to visit Hungary for tourism purposes. The Schengen Area citizens can enter Hungary and stay as long as required for the purpose of tourism with their National ID cards.

Citizens of other visa-exempt countries must possess a valid passport when they visit Hungary as tourists and are allowed to stay a maximum of 90 days in the country, within every 180-day period.

Before traveling to Hungary or the Schengen Area for tourism, citizens of these same countries will have to pre-register for an ETIAS application online beginning in 2022. As per Hungary visa policy requires a tourist visa from a government diplomatic office in roughly 150 countries around the world, also known as a Schengen visa.

The visit to an embassy of Hungary for the purpose of receiving a visa must be scheduled well in advance of travel so that enough time can be allowed for the visa to be issued.

You need at least a 3-month valid passport from an eligible country in order to obtain a Schengen tourist visa for Hungary. Depending on the nationality, you may also need to provide additional supporting documentation.

Hungary Schengen Visa

The Hungary visa policy stipulates that up to 150 nationalities are required to obtain a visa to enter the country, regardless of the time spent in Hungary or the purpose of travel. The Hungarian embassy or consulate must facilitate the application process in advance since Hungary does not currently allow eVisas or visa-on-arrival requests.

Thus, making an appointment at the nearest Hungarian diplomatic office overseas is necessary before applying for a Schengen visa for Hungary. It is extremely important to finalize this well before the intended travel dates, as a Schengen visa can take several weeks to process and be approved.

To schedule an appointment, foreign citizens need to provide their Schengen visa application form, as well as the type of Hungarian visa they require, including visas for study, work, transit, or tourism. In addition, a valid passport and Schengen Visa fee must be presented by the applicant before a Hungary Schengen visa can be granted.

Hungary ETIAS

By 2002, more than 60 of these nationalities will require the ETIAS visa waiver once it is introduced, although Hungary permits more than 90 countries to travel to Hungary without a visa for short stays. Hungary visa policy will require visa-exempt nationals from outside of the Schengen Area to register in advance for this electronic travel authorization before they can visit the country.

By pre-screening visa-free travelers before they arrive in Europe, the multiple-entry online visa waiver will enhance the border security of all 26 Schengen member countries. For tourists, business travelers, transit passengers, or patients requiring medical treatment, ETIAS approval can permit travel to Hungary and all of the Schengen countries during its validity period. A stay of 90 days is permitted with each entry, within a 180-day period.

Upon activation of the online system, citizens who will be eligible to use it must fill out an ETIAS Hungary application with basic travel information, personal data, and passport information. See more details about the Hungary visa policy.

Additionally, you must answer some security questions and pay an ETIAS fee in order to complete the application. Upon approval, an electronic Hungarian ETIAS is connected to the passport used by the application, and it is valid for three years or until the expiration date of the passport used in the application. The Hungarian ordinary passport enables visa-free entry into all of the world's developed countries. According to Hungary visa policy, it is a very convenient travel document. The Hungarian diplomatic passport is more convenient, but it carries fewer visa restrictions.
