Once in India, you won’t want to leave. That is why so many visitors ask: Can you renew your Indian visa?

Can you renew your Indian visa?

Absolutely! Once your visa expires you can get a new one, but you cannot do so while in the country.

If you entered India with a tourist visa you can stay up to 90 consecutive days in the country. If you’re a citizen of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, or Japan, you can stay in the country for up to 180 days.

The tourist visa has a validity of one or five years from the date of approval. If you got a multiple entry visa, it is possible for you to leave the country for a while and then return and stay again for 90 or 180 days depending on your nationality and the length of your visa but you must leave the country before your visa expires.

Once back in your country of origin and after your visa has expired, you can get a new one to visit India again.

What if you have a business visa, can you renew your Indian visa?

This case is very similar to the tourist visa. You can stay in the country for a maximum stay of 180 days after that time, if you need to extend your stay you would have to register with the Foreign Registration Office (FRRO/FRO) concerned.

The business visa is valid for a year from the issue date and grants multiple entries in the country. Each entry can last up to 180 days, but if you are not registered, you must leave the country before your visa expires or your time in the country is up.

Finally, in the case of a medical visa, can you renew your Indian visa?

Yes, it can be renewed but not extended. With the medical visa, you are granted a 60-day stay in the country, counting from the date of arrival. Before the 60 days are up, you must leave the country.

Once your visa expires, if you need to visit India for medical reasons again, you can get a new visa to do so.

Can you renew your Indian visa?

Yes! So you can visit India again and again. Getting your electronic visa is very simple and you can always renew it as long as you do so from your origin country and your old visa has already expired.

Use your Indian visa to visit the Kailasa Temple, the Taj Mahal, the Amber Fort, the City Palace, the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, and many more attractions India has to offer. Visit during March to enjoy the Holi festival or during the months of October and November to experience Diwali. The truth is that India is great any time of the year.
