  • Random testing: India continues to conduct random RTPCR testing upon arrival for 2% of all international passengers, regardless of their country of origin.

  • Health screening: All travelers will undergo thermal screening upon arrival in India. Symptomatic travelers will be isolated and re-tested. Travelers selected for testing on arrival are allowed to depart the airport after the test sample collection and are not required to wait for results. However, all travelers are required to self-monitor for 14 days after arrival.

  • Quarantine: Any traveler who tests positive upon arrival or while in India must isolate for eight days. Other travelers must self-monitor their health post-arrival. Some Indian states may require testing on arrival and/or quarantine for individuals arriving from outside their borders.

Differences between the India Business eVisa and the India Tourist eVisa

The India Business eVisa and the India Tourist eVisa serve distinct purposes and have different eligibility criteria and conditions:

India Business eVisa

  • Purpose: Specifically designed for individuals engaging in business activities in India. These activities include attending meetings and conferences, setting up business ventures, or participating in trade fairs.

  • Validity: Typically valid for one year from the date of issuance, with multiple entries allowed. The maximum continuous stay is limited to 180 days.

  • Requirements: Applicants must provide business-related documents such as an invitation letter from the host company in India or a business card.

India Tourist Visa

  • Purpose: Intended for travelers visiting India for tourism, such as sightseeing, recreation, or meeting friends and family.

  • Validity: The tourist eVisa is usually valid for one year from the date of issuance, allowing multiple short stays (each stay not exceeding 90 days for most nationalities and 180 days for U.S., U.K., Canadian, and Japanese citizens).

  • Requirements: Less stringent than the Business eVisa, typically requiring only basic personal information and travel details.

For individuals planning to visit India, it's crucial to choose the correct visa type based on the nature of their visit. Applying for the wrong visa type can result in entry denial or other legal complications.
