Important Instructions

Like many island nations in the Caribbean, Jamaica is a common tourist destination, especially with Brits, Americans, and Canadians. As you can imagine, the island is the home to stunning tropical beaches, vibrant flora and fauna. Aside from water sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, and jet skiing, we recommend hiking in the mountainous heart of Jamaica. Plus, there are plenty of other attractions such as Nine Mile, the location where Bob Marley was born and is now buried. You are sure to have a memorable vacation.

However, before traveling to Jamaica, you must find out whether or not you are required to obtain a visa. Fortunately, Jamaica’s visa policy is lenient as 116 countries are visa exempt. Travelers from these nations can enter Jamaica without a visa and stay between 30 days and 6 months, depending on nationality. Visas on arrival are also available, but only for residents of some nations. The rest of the world must obtain a visa from the nearest Jamaican embassy or diplomatic mission.

You can easily find out which category you fall into by skipping the work of digging through Jamaica’s visa policy and instead using our Visa Checker Tool located in the top right corner of this page. Simply select your country of origin from the drag-down menu on the left and choose Jamaica as your destination in the right box. If you are not required to get a Jamaica visa, have a wonderful trip! But if you need one, the Visa Checker offers a list of embassies near you. In some cases, the application can be submitted at a British diplomatic mission or embassy.

Unfortunately, iVisa does not currently process visa applications for Jamaica because the visa policy since electronic visas are unavailable. If and when they are offered, we will be able to provide an easy, safe, and reliable application process. In the meantime, we still like helping any and all travelers, which is why our free support service is at your disposal 24/7.

If your only option is to visit a Jamaican embassy to get a visa, you need to read about your nationality's specific requirements. You can find a lot of information online, although we recommend that you contact the embassy itself and ask your questions there. Info found online is not always the most reliable and can lead to critical application errors. Nevertheless, what we can tell you is that you'll need to hold a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Jamaica. For further information, contact the diplomatic mission.

While we cannot help you obtain a visa for Jamaica, we hope that the information above helps. If you have more questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
