Can I travel to Kenya with an East Africa Visa?

In 2014, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda started to issue a document called the East African Tourist Visa, which allows its holder to visit all three countries using the same travel document. It comes in handy if you are planning a tour of all three states. So, to answer your question, yes, you can travel to Kenya on an East Africa Visa.

Kenya

The document has no restrictions to any nationality, so no matter your country of origin, you can apply for an East Africa visa. The document allows you to stay in the three countries for up to 90 days, and you do not have the possibility to extend your visit. However, there is one rule that you need to follow. If you take a tour of Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, you need to first enter the country that issues the visa. So, if your travel document is issued by Rwanda, you need to travel to Rwanda first, and only after that, you can go to Kenya and Uganda.

Can I get a visa just for Kenya?

Of course, you can. Kenya has one of the most lenient visa policies in the world. Not only that you have the possibility to purchase a visa on arrival once you land at one of their international airports, but you can also apply for a Kenya Visa. The document is available online on iVisa, and it can be yours in just 2 hours.

What you need to know is that you have to meet some requirements before you request the travel document. You should not find this task too difficult since the conditions are easy to fulfill. Even so, here is what you need:

  • Valid passport – you cannot apply for a Kenya visa online unless you are a passport holder. Furthermore, the passport needs to maintain its validity for at least another 6 months from the arrival date in Kenya.

  • A scan of your passport’s information page – you will have to upload it at some point during the application process.

  • A digital photo of yourself – you need to make sure that the picture is taken as recently as possible.

  • A return flight ticket – this just ensures the immigration officers that you plan to not overstay your visa.

  • Proof of accommodation – this can either be a hotel booking or an invitation letter from your host in Kenya.

  • Travel itinerary – this does not have to include every little activity you will do while in Kenya. Just the cities you plan to visit.

  • E-mail address – the Kenya visa arrives via e-mail in PDF format, and you need to print it out.

  • Means of payment – iVisa accepts multiple methods of payment. You can use a credit/debit card, PayPal, Alipay, or WeChat.

After you manage to put all that together, you can proceed to fill in the application form. It should not take you more than 20 minutes to complete the task, but if you need some help, iVisa’s customer support is at your disposal 24/7 and free of charge. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

The bottom line is that you can travel to Kenya with an East Africa visa, which iVisa can help obtain as well, but this document covers Rwanda and Uganda as well. If you plan to travel to Kenya only, a Kenya e-visa will suffice.
