Important Instructions

Kiribati is a group of islands in Micronesia where very few tourists dared to visit. The islands have had an unsavory history and violent crime used to be quite prevalent. However, the scenery is sure to take your breath away. Glowing white sands, turquoise water, and over thirty atolls are sure to impress you on a hike, bike, or walk around the islands. Additionally, diving, snorkeling, and surfing among the coral reefs is a fantastic experience. While the residents of Kiribati are not particularly well acquainted with tourism, they are incredibly welcoming - you may even be asked to join a family dinner or a neighborhood party! You're sure to have a memorable experience on 'island time'.

Before you hop on any planes, be aware that you might need a visa before departure. According to Kiribati’s visa policy, there are currently 72 countries and territories whose citizens can travel to Kiribati without a visa. The length of stay varies from 30 days to 4 months, depending on nationality. The rest of the world needs to apply for a visa before departure.

If you want to find out whether or not you need a Kiribati visa, you can search around for info online, but we suggest using our Visa Checker Tool located in the top right corner of this page. Just select your country of origin from the drag-down menu on the left and choose Kiribati as your destination on the right. If you are not required to get a Kiribati visa, Bon Voyage! But if you need one, the Visa Checker offers you a list of embassies where you can apply in-person. Keep in mind that Kiribati does not have diplomatic missions in all countries. In East Asia, for example, the embassy is located in Taipei, Taiwan.

Unfortunately, iVisa does not process Kiribati visa applications because electronic visas are not available. As soon as e-Visas are a possibility for Kiribati tourists, we will offer a safe, reliable, and fast application process. Until then, we offer a free 24/7 support service to answer any questions you may have.

Before you go to the diplomatic mission of Kiribati to apply, you need to read more about you nationality's specific requirements. You can find a lot of info online, although we recommend that you contact the embassy itself and ask your questions there. While the internet is vast, sometimes outdated and incorrect info can lead to critical mistakes in the application process. Nevertheless, what iVisa can tell you is that you'll need a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of arrival in Kiribati. For further information, contact the diplomatic mission.

We recommend that solo female travelers use the buddy system at night and/or refrain from walking around after dark.

While we cannot help with the Kiribati visa application at the moment, we hope that the information above is useful.
