DOCUMENT OVERVIEW
The Mexico Electronic Travel Authorization is a travel authorization document required for travelers of certain nationalities arriving in Mexico by air. It is also sometimes known as an SAE, which refers to Mexico's Electronic Travel Authorization System. If your Travel Authorization is approved, you will not be required to obtain a Mexican Visa.
WHO CAN ENTER MEXICO WITH THIS DOCUMENT
Only citizens of Turkey, Ukraine, Brazil or Russia are eligible to apply for the Mexico Electronic Travel Authorization.
OBTAIN THE MEXICO ELECTRONIC AUTHORIZATION
To obtain the document, you will be required to provide some information about yourself and your intended stay in Mexico. In addition, you also need to have a confirmed flight ticket to fill out the application.
Only passengers traveling by air may obtain the Mexico Electronic Authorization. It is not required to get a coronavirus test before traveling to Mexico, but if you are connecting to Mexico through another country, be sure to check the transit requirements of that country.
DISPLAY THE DOCUMENT
Make sure you bring a hard copy of your electronic authorization with you to Mexico and present it at check-in for your airline and to the immigration officer(s) at the point of entry for Mexico.

The Mexico Electronic Authorization is only available for citizens of Russia, Turkey, Brazil and Ukraine.

If you are from one of these countries and you hold a valid visa or residence permit to Canada, USA, Japan, UK or any Schengen Country you don’t require a visa to enter Mexico.(Chile, Colombia, and Peru are included in the residence permit list).

The Authorization allows a Single Entry of a maximum stay of 180 days Per Entry.

You should arrive to Mexico by plane.

There are no coronavirus testing or quarantine requirements for travelers to Mexico, unless travelers show symptoms of COVID-19. In that case, they'll need to quarantine.

What is the Mexico ETA (SAE)?
The Mexico Electronic Authorization System (ETA, or SAE in Spanish) is a travel document that allows nationals of Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, and Brazil to travel to Mexico for a period of up to 180 days without having to obtain a visa from their corresponding Mexican Embassy.
Visitors entering Mexico on a SAE eVisa must not carry out paid activities. Valid reasons for travel are as follows: tourism, transit, businesses (such as attending meetings, supervisory visits, training or counseling in Mexico), activities related to the exercise of ministers of worship, technical work with local companies (without receiving payment in Mexico), philanthropic activities, sports, freight transport, receiving medical treatment, attending fairs or conferences, and studying.
What do I need to apply for the Mexico ETA (SAE)?
To obtain your Mexico Electronic Travel Authorization it is necessary to meet the following conditions:
- Hold Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, or Brasilian citizenship.
- Have a valid passport.
- Arrive to Mexico by plane.

How long is the Mexico ETA (SAE) valid for?
The Mexico Electronic Authorization System (SAE) is valid for 30 days after issued and allows the holder Single Entry into Mexico for a period of up to 180 days Per Entry.
This means that once you enter Mexico, you may stay no longer than 180 days. In addition, you must apply for a new Mexico Electronic Travel Authorization if you wish to travel to Mexico more than once.

*No. Possession of an ETA for Mexico does not provide an automatic right of entry into the country. The National Institute of Migration may refuse entry to any person who they consider unable to fulfill the immigration requirements or if they consider that the person's presence in Mexico would be contrary to national interests or security.
