Frequently Asked Questions // FAQs

I'm from Rwanda, do I need a visa to enter New Zealand?

If you're from Rwanda then you must obtain a Consular Tourist Visa to travel to New Zealand. Keep in mind that you'll be able to apply for an ETA in the future.

As we indicated before, iVisa does not issue the New Zealand ETA yet and the New Zealand Visitor Visa Online is no longer available. The good thing is that you can check your eligibility for other e-Visas on this page. Once you enter the Visa Checker Tool, you only have to choose your country of origin and the country of destination, this way you'll receive the information immediately.

How long can I stay in New Zealand?

If you're from Rwanda, you can stay in New Zealand for 90 days Per Entry.

What are the requirements?

The first thing that you must think about is the requirements. You need to make sure that you can fulfill them all. However, you should know that the New Zealand ETA does not require documentation that is difficult to achieve. In fact, you only need the following:

  • Passport – This is a necessary document if you want to travel to other countries. Every foreign citizen must obtain a valid passport with at least 3 months of validation minimum, starting from the flight date. You also need to scan your passport's information page.
  • Digital passport picture – You need to make sure that the picture was taken recently and that it follows all the passport photograph guidelines.
  • A travel itinerary plan – It's a must to get valid documentation so you can prove what plans you have in New Zealand.
  • Proof of accommodation in New Zealand – You can verify this by showing hotel bookings or even a letter from your host.
  • Employment list
  • Documentation that demonstrates all your connections to your home country.
  • Proof of subsistence –You must offer a piece of evidence that confirms you can afford for yourself while you visit New Zealand. A bank statement, cash, credit cards, etc, will be fine.
  • E-mail address – iVisa will e-mail you the New Zealand ETA, so you need to provide a valid e-mail address.
  • Proper payment alternatives – iVisa allows you to pay with credit and debit cards, but you can also use PayPal.

What are the processing times and fees?

You'll be very happy to know that the total price you have to pay for your New Zealand ETA is affordable, but it can vary according to one single aspect: the processing time. We are talking about the processing time option you prefer while filling in the application process. iVisa offers three options so that you can go for the one that you find most convenient. They are as follows:

  • Standard processing time – You'll get your New Zealand ETA in 24 hours, and it has a price of USD 57.00
  • Rush processing time – your ETA will be ready in 4 hours, but the price is a bit higher. It will be USD 77.00.
  • Super Rush processing time – By choosing this, you'll only wait 30 minutes. Nevertheless, since this is the most expensive alternative on hand, you'll pay USD 97.00.

How can I apply for the ETA?

Once you get all of the above, you can move on and fill in the application form. It should take you about 20 minutes to complete it, but if you need some assistance, iVisa’s customer support is available 24/7 and free of charge.

The application form we are talking about has three steps:

  1. The first step asks that you insert your personal information, passport info, and some details about your trip. You need to also select a processing time for your application.

  2. The second step is even simpler. You need to handle the payment and review your form so that you can make sure of your information’s accuracy.

  3. The third step, on the other hand, requires you to upload the documents that support your application. As soon as you are done with that too, you can submit your form, and iVisa will handle the rest.

What is important to know is that iVisa makes the application process for a New Zealand ETA as convenient as possible. The document is valid for 2 years after issued and it offers you Multiple Entry
