If you asked this question at the start of 2018, then the answer would have been yes. Indian citizens could get a visa on arrival when they landed in Muscat. However, that changed as of March this year, and the Oman visa on arrival was replaced entirely by the electronic visa system. As a result, if you are an Indian citizen and you want to go to Oman, you need to apply online for an Oman e-visa. However, before you get your hopes up, keep in mind that Indian citizens can only apply for an Oman conditional visa. This means that if you do not have a valid visa or a residence permit issued by the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, or Japan, you cannot get a visa online, and you need to go to the nearest embassy of Oman.
What are the requirements?
When you apply online with iVisa, you do not need much. However, you need some document and some information that iVisa will use to expedite your visa. You are required to provide the following:
Passport – all Indian applicants need to have a valid passport that remains valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Oman. Otherwise, you risk having your application denied.
A passport scan – the information page is the most important
A digital photo of yourself – make sure that it is taken in the last 6 months.
E-mail address – when you apply with iVisa, you will receive the visa via e-mail, so make sure that you introduce a valid and correct e-mail address.
Means of payment – iVisa accepts multiple methods of payment such as credit/debit cards, Paypal, Alipay, or WeChat.
Valid visa or residence permit – as mentioned above, Indian citizens require a valid visa or a residence permit issued by the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, or Australia.
How to apply for an Oman e-visa
The application form created by iVisa is most accessible, and if you need help with completing it, you can call their support service. It is available 24/7 and free of charge. There are three steps you need to finish. The first one expects you to insert your personal information such as name, address, nationality, date of arrival in Oman, and so on. You must also select a processing time and a visa type at this point. Keep in mind that your choices determine the cost of your visa.
The second step consists of revision and payment. Make sure that your application form does not contain errors. That may make you repeat the process, and the cost is not refundable. The last step will ask you to upload some documents, and since this step if not the same for everyone, you will be notified as to what you need to provide. Once you are done with all three phases, you can submit your application and then wait for your document to arrive via e-mail in PDF format.
The bottom line is that the Oman visa for Indian citizens is no longer available in Muscat, but you may be able to apply online. That is even better because you do not have to stand in any lines. After all, the whole purpose of the electronic visa system was to improve the visa application process, and so it did.
