If you plan to go to Oman in the near future, you should know that the Oman visa on arrival is no longer available. According to Royal Oman police, everyone who intends to travel to Oman needs to apply online in advance. The initiative came as an effort to avoid long lines at the visa on arrival service counter at airports. However, you should know that applying online is even easier, and iVisa can help you with that.

How to apply for an Oman electronic visa

The alternative to an Oman visa on arrival is the electronic visa. The process of obtaining it is entirely online, and you can use the services rendered by iVisa. The first thing you need to check is whether or not you are eligible for an e-visa. To do that, use iVisa’s Visa Checke. Just select your country of origin and Oman as your destination. If you do qualify for the visa, you will be able to apply on the spot.

When you apply online, you need to meet some requirements. Even so, iVisa will ask very little of you so that your efforts are insignificant. Here is what you need to provide:

  • Passport – all applicants need to have a valid passport that remains valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Oman. Otherwise, you risk having your application denied.

  • A passport scan – the information page is the most important

  • A digital photo of yourself – make sure that it is taken in the last 6 months.

  • E-mail address – when you apply with iVisa, you will receive the visa via e-mail, so make sure that you introduce a valid and correct e-mail address.

  • Means of payment – iVisa accepts multiple methods of payment such as credit/debit cards, Paypal, Alipay, or WeChat.

  • Valid visa or residence permit – some nationalities require a valid visa or a residence permit issued by the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, or Australia. These nationalities would not be able to apply for an Oman e-visa otherwise. Make sure that you do your research to find out if this requirement applies to you.

After you gather everything you need, you can move on to the application form. It should take only 15 minutes to complete, and if you need assistance, iVisa provides excellent support service 24/7.

There are three steps you need to go through. The first one requires you to fill in your personal information and some details about your trip. At this point, you must also select a visa type and a processing time, both of which establish the cost of your visa. As for processing time, iVisa gives you three options:

  • Standard processing – your visa application is processed within 72 hours, and the price is $82.

  • Rush processing – you will receive your visa within 48 hours, and the fee is $132.

  • Super rush processing – this is the fastest option. You will get your Oman e-visa in just 12 hours, but you will be charged $162.

The fees above apply to the single-entry Oman visa which allows you to stay in Oman for 30 days. If you want to apply for a multiple-entry visa, the processing time remains the same, but the fee goes higher with $78 for each processing option. GCC residents need to pay only $43, $93, or $123 respectively.

The second step of the application form consists of payment and revision, while the last step is meant to let you upload additional documents if needed. Once you are done, you just submit your application and then wait for your visa to arrive in your e-mail inbox.

The bottom line is that while the Oman visa on arrival is no longer available, we consider that if you apply online, you will have an easier time obtaining your travel document. There is no standing in line, and you can solve the visa issue before departure.
