Traveling to Qatar from Oman for the FIFA World Cup

The 2022 FIFA World Cup event will happen from the 20th of November to the 18th of December 2022, with matches taking place in Doha, Al Wakrah, and Al Khor. Find cheap flights by being well-prepared and start booking flights and hotels now to get the best prices with Qatar Airways or Oman Air.

Flights from Muscat airport usually land in Doha, which is the main airport for international flights. You can also drive from Muscat to Doha. Once you’re in Doha, you can travel to Al Wakrah and Al Khor by car.

The advice is to book your flight from Muscat to Doha as soon as possible, this will help you find a flight with a better price and more options. Don’t wait for last-minute offers for trips or more flights to open up, because it’s rarely worth the minor difference in price.

Traveling from Oman to Qatar: By road

If you have time or like a road trip, going to Qatar by car is an option. From one territory to another, it takes approximately 10 hours to drive the nearly 1000 km.

Travel requirements for Oman nationals to enter Qatar

The next trip to Qatar will be amazing! But you’ll need to know all information about the documents to go from Oman to Qatar. Once Oman is part of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates), the rules are a little bit flexible for Qatar entry, also the COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Applying for the Hayya Card

Travelers going from Oman to Qatar have to apply for the Hayya Card. This card is a tourist identification document, mandatory for all visitors going to Qatar during the FIFA competition. It’ll give access to stadiums and public transport, but is also a travel document that holds the visitor's personal information.

The Qatar visa for Oman citizens

Oman passport holders are eligible for a Qatar visa on arrival as a GCC country. This means that you can go from Omar to Doha without applying for a Qatar visa in advance, neither in an embassy nor online.

The visa waiver allows for a single entry into the country. It’s valid for a one-month stay in Qatar, and it can be renewed for a further two months.
