Planning a trip to Singapore may entail getting a visa as well. Of course, it matters from which country you are. According to Singapore’s visa policy, there are 34 nationalities that can get a visa, and stay inside the country for periods that vary from 30 to 90 days, depending on the nationality. At the same time, 15 other nationalities are eligible for a Singapore eVisa which involves an online application process. All the rest of the nationalities must visit the nearest Singaporean embassy and apply for a consular visa.

If you want to learn in which category you are, you have two options. You can either look at the visa policy of Singapore or, and we recommend that you can use iVisa Visa Checker as your option. It is a simple feature that will tell you what you need to know. All you have to do is select your nationality from the drag-down menu on the left and add Singapore to the menu on the right. The result will tell you whether or not you need a visa, and if you do, it will lay down your options. If you are eligible for a Singapore eVisa, you can apply on the spot. If not, you will be provided with a list of embassies where you can apply.

Getting a Singapore visa from the embassy

If you are neither visa-exempt nor you qualify for an electronic visa, you need to go to the nearest embassy of Singapore and apply there. What you should do is learn about the requirements before you get there. The internet can help you with that, but we recommend that you use the information you find online as a reference only. Not all of it is reliable. That is why you should call the embassy or the diplomatic mission itself and make your inquiries there. You will be given reliable information.

Once you gather everything you are told you need, you can go and fill in your application. You will have to pay a fee and go over your file to make sure that everything is accurate. You submit it and then wait for your visa to be ready.

How to get a Singapore visa online

If you check the eligibility criteria off the list, you can be able to apply online for an eVisa. The process is short and simple. The one designed by iVisa does not take you more than 20 minutes to complete. As you can imagine, you must meet some requirements in this case as well, but there is nothing out of the ordinary on that list. All you need is:

  • A 6-month valid passport

  • A recent digital photo of yourself.

  • A valid e-mail address.

  • A means of online payment.

Once you have all that, you can move on to filling in the online application form.

The application form form iVisa has three simple steps:

  1. The first one requires you to provide your general information, as well as to choose a processing time for your application. Keep in mind that your selection affects the total fee of the Singapore eVisa.

  2. The second step consists of revision and payment.

  3. While the third will ask you to upload some documents. You submit your application, and the visa can arrive in your e-mail inbox in as little as 18 hours.

It is quite obvious that the online visa application process is more straightforward and implies less effort and time on your part, but unfortunately, you cannot take advantage of it if you do not qualify, in which case you must take the first options a pay a visit to the Singaporean diplomatic mission in your area.
