If you are planning a trip to Sri Lanka, you should know that you need a visa to cross its borders. However, Sri Lanka’s visa policy is lenient and allows most nationalities to enter the country with a visa on arrival. Only 21 nationalities are required to obtain a visa from the nearest Sri Lankan diplomatic mission. To find out if you are among them, we recommend that you use iVisa’s Visa Checker. Choose your country of origin from the drag-down menu on the left and add Sri Lanka in the menu on the right. It will let you know in just an instant if you need a consular visa or not.

At the same time, all travelers, except the ones who are from Singapore, the Maldives, and Seychelles, must obtain a Sri Lanka ETA in order to get a visa on arrival. Lucky for you, that document is available online, and iVisa can expedite the application process for you.

What must you do to get a Sri Lanka entry visa?

The requirements are nothing out of the ordinary. The first thing you need to ensure is that you meet the requirements. To handle the application process for you, iVisa needs a few things from you. Here is a list of what you must provide:

  • Valid passport – to obtain a Sri Lanka ETA, all applicants must hold a valid passport that remains valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Sri Lanka.

  • Digital photo – make sure that the picture is as recent as possible and follows all the guidelines for a passport photo.

  • Valid e-mail address – iVisa will send you the ETA via e-mail in PDF format, which is why you must provide an e-mail address to which you have access. Do not forget to print out a physical copy before you leave.

  • Means of payment – during the application process, you will be required to make the payment. iVisa accepts credit or debit cards, but you can use PayPal, Alipay, or WeChat as well.

The next step is to fill in the application form. That is simple as well since iVisa designed a form that should not take more than 20 minutes of your time. Moreover, if you need any help, you can contact iVisa’s support service 24/7. You will not be charged for using it.

The form mentioned above has three steps. During step one, you are asked to provide your personal information and a few details about your trip, such as arrival and departure dates. You are also invited to select one of the three available processing time options that iVisa puts at your disposal. Bear in mind that your selection affects the cost of your Sri Lanka ETA. Here is what you can choose from:

  • Standard processing – this is the cheapest and slowest option iVisa puts at your disposal. Your application is processed within 1 business day, and it costs $55.

  • Rush processing – this time, your ETA arrives in just 3 hours, but you will be charged $85.

  • Super Rush processing – it only takes 30 minutes for your application to be processed. As you can imagine, the fee is higher. $105 to be more precise.

Traveling to Sri Lanka for business purposes involves a Sri Lanka Business ETA. The processing time options remain the same, but the fees are a bit different. You will be charged $70, $100, and $120 respectively for each processing time.

The second step consists of payment and revision. Double-check your form before submitting it. And the last step is the moment in which iVisa asks that you upload the necessary documents. After you are done, you can send your form and wait for your ETA to arrive in your e-mail inbox.

As you can see, getting a Sri Lanka entry visa is not challenging at all when you use iVisa as your visa service. The document is valid 90 days since issue, it grants you a double entry, and you can stay in Sri Lanka for up to 30 days per entry.
