Going on holiday to Sri Lanka entails more than finding accommodation and planning your trip from A to Z. it may also mean that you must obtain a visa before departure. That depends on where you are from. According to the visa policy of Sri Lanka, the citizens of only 21 countries must pay a visit to the nearest Sri Lankan diplomatic mission to get their visa. Everybody else is eligible for a visa on arrival once they get to their destination. To find out in which category you are, we recommend that you use iVisa’s Visa Checker. It will give you that information in just a few seconds.

Sri Lanka

Nevertheless, if you do qualify for a Sri Lanka visa on arrival, there is one condition for you to meet. Before departure, you must apply for a Sri Lanka ETA. That is not the case if you are from Singapore, the Maldives, or Seychelles. All the other travelers must meet this requirement. Fortunately, the document can be obtained online, and iVisa can help with the application process.

The requirements for a Sri Lanka holiday visa

A Sri Lanka Tourist ETA is easy to obtain, and the requirements are nothing out of the ordinary. All you must do is put together the following:

  • Valid passport – to get a Sri Lanka ETA, all applicants must hold a valid passport that remains valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Sri Lanka.

  • Digital photo – make sure that the picture is as recent as possible and follows all the guidelines for a passport photo.

  • Valid e-mail address – iVisa will send you the ETA via e-mail in PDF format, which is why you must provide an e-mail address to which you have access. Do not forget to print out a physical copy before you leave.

  • Means of payment – during the application process, you will be required to make the payment. iVisa accepts credit or debit cards, but you can use PayPal, Alipay, or WeChat as well.

The application form

The next step after you put together all of the above is to fill in the application form. That should not cause you any concerns because the form is short and straightforward. And in case you need assistance, iVisa has an excellent support service that can guide you every step of the way. the service is available non-stop, and it does not charge you.

You must complete all three steps of the application form. The first one is about your personal information and some details about your trip. You are also required to select a processing time for your application, and your choice determines the cost of your Sri Lanka ETA. Here are your options:

  • Standard processing – this is the cheapest and slowest option iVisa puts at your disposal. Your application is processed within 1 business day, and it costs $55.

  • Rush processing – this time, your ETA arrives in just 3 hours, but you will be charged $85.

  • Super Rush processing – it only takes 30 minutes for your application to be processed. As you can imagine, the fee is higher. $105 to be more specific.

During step two, you must make the payment and a quick revision. The latter is more significant than you think. A single error can render your visa invalid. Corrections are impossible to make once your application reaches processing, in which case you must repeat the process. It would be best if you read the form a few times before resuming the process.

The last step is when you must upload some documents. iVisa will let you know what they are. Once you are done, just hit the submit button and that is when your effort ends. The rest is handled by iVisa.

As you can see, getting a Sri Lanka holiday visa is easier than you may have thought. iVisa does most of the work so that you can occupy your time with more important things. The Sri Lanka Tourist ETA is valid for 90 days since issue, and you can use it for two entries. However, you cannot stay in Sri Lanka for more than 30 days per entry.
