Apart from 21 countries whose citizens need a consular visa and 3 visa-exempt nationalities, all Guinean who wish to go to Sri Lanka must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization or an ETA. In order to find out which nationality needs a consular visa, you can use the Visa Checker tool on iVisa’s website. iVisa can help you acquire the ETA in as little as 30 minutes, and the cost and effort you need to make are minimal.

What documents you need?

To apply for an ETA, Guinean needs to provide some information so that iVisa can handle the bureaucracy part. However, the list is not very long, and you should have no trouble with getting everything on it. Here is what you need to come up with:

  • Passport – if you already are a passport holder, make sure that the document is still valid and will remain as such for at least another 6 months from your date of departure. Failure to comply leads to a rejected application.

  • E-mail address – you will receive your ETA via e-mail in PDF format. You need to print it out and show it at the immigration office in Sri Lanka. Make sure to check the spelling before you submit your application.

  • Means of payment – iVisa accepts multiple methods of payment. You can use either a credit/debit card or a Paypal account if you have one.

  • Return or onward flight ticket – this requirement applies only to citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, and Syria who travel or transit Sri Lanka.

The application process for Guinean

The application form consists of two simple steps. The first one will ask you to fill in your personal information like name, address, passport info, e-mail, and so on. Also, you must choose the type of ETA you want, tourist or business, and the processing time. As for the latter, iVisa comes with three excellent options that fit all needs and pockets of Guinean. They are as follows:

  • Standard processing – if you choose this option like most people do, you need to pay only $55. Your application will be processed within just one business day.

  • Rush processing – you can apply for this option if you have your flight in the afternoon. It takes just 3 hours for your application to be processed, and you will be charged $85 for your ETA.

  • Super Rush processing – this option is ideal for people who need their ETA on the spot. Your travel document will be ready within just 30 minutes. However, the price is as high as $105.

The fees mentioned above apply to tourist ETAs. Guinean who is going to Sri Lanka on business, needs to apply for a business ETA. The processing time remains the same, but the fees are just $5 more for each processing time.

The second step of the application process consists of payment and revision. Payment can be made using one of the methods mentioned above (credit/debit card or Paypal). As for the review, it is very important that all the information you provide is 100% accurate. Mistakes can be made during the application process, which is why Guinean should make sure that everything is correct. You should double-check the spelling. After your application is processed, you cannot make any corrections, which means you need to go through the process again. Also, iVisa has a no-refund policy after the issue of the ETA, so you need to make the payment again. The best course of action is to check everything twice before hitting the submit button.

The ETA you receive is valid for 180 days after issue, which means you have 6 months to use it. Guinean can stay in Sri Lanka for maximum 30 days. The tourist ETA allows two entries, while the business ETA has multiple.

As you can see, getting an ETA for Sri Lanka could not be easier. The electronic system is easy to use, and the officials in Sri Lanka actually recommend that Guinean use it in order to prevent any delays at the points of entry in the country. But then again, who would choose a long line and wasted time over 10 minutes for an online application?
