Vietnam is among the countries whose citizens are eligible for a Sri Lanka visa on arrival. Consequently, as a Vietnamese citizen, you can obtain your travel permit when you arrive in Sri Lanka. However, in order for that to happen, you must first get a Sri Lanka ETA. Lucky for you, the document is available online, and iVisa can help you get it in as little as 30 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a Sri Lanka Tourist Electronic Travel Authorization?

An ETA is an official document that permits you to visit and travel through Sri Lanka for tourists.

What are the requirements for this ETA?

iVisa handles all the administrative processes on your behalf, but you are required to provide some information, a few documents to get the application process started. Even so, the list is not extensive, and chances are that you may already have everything you must provide. Here is a list of what is necessary:

  • Valid passport – to obtain a Sri Lanka ETA, all applicants must hold a valid passport that remains valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Sri Lanka.

  • Digital photo – make sure that the picture is as recent as possible and follows all the guidelines for a passport photo.

  • Valid e-mail address – iVisa will send you the ETA via e-mail in PDF format, which is why you must provide an e-mail address to which you have access. Don't forget to print out a physical copy before you leave.

  • Means of payment – during the application process, you will be required to make the payment. iVisa accepts credit or debit cards, but you can use PayPal, Alipay, or WeChat as well.

What is the application process to obtain the ETA for Sri Lanka?

One last requirement is that you fill in the online application form. You do not have to sweat about it since the form is short and straightforward. You should not spend more than 20 minutes completing it. Moreover, in case you need some help, iVisa provides customer support. The service is available 24/7, and it is entirely free of charge.

The application form consists of three steps.

Step one requires you to provide your general information such as name, address, e-mail, date of birth, and so on. Details about your trip and passport info are also necessary. At the same time, you need to select a processing time that best suits your needs. Just keep in mind that your choice determines the cost of your Sri Lanka ETA. Your options are as follows:

  • Standard processing – this is the cheapest and slowest option iVisa puts at your disposal. Your application is processed within 3 days, and it costs USD $100.99.

  • Rush processing – this time, your ETA arrives in just 24 hours, but you will be charged USD $152.99.

  • Super Rush processing – it only takes 12 hours for your application to be processed. As you can imagine, the fee is higher, USD $225.99 to be more precise.

A trip to Sri Lanka for business purposes requires a Sri Lanka Business ETA. The processing time options remain the same, but the fees are slightly different. You will be charged $70, $100, and $120 respectively for each processing time.

Step two is about payment and revision. You need to be very careful about this. One small error that you may find insignificant can invalidate your visa. Before moving on, you should check your form for inaccuracies and typos.

Step three is about documents upload. You need to upload the digital photo and a scan of your passport’s information page. Additional documents may be required, but you will be notified in due time. After step three is complete, all that is left for you to do is to submit your application and wait.

How long can I stay in Sri Lanka with the tourist ETA?

The tourist ETA for Sri Lanka has a validity of 180 after issued. Meaning that you must enter Sri Lanka within 180 after issued. Important detail! This ETA is DOUBLE ENTRY visa, and allows you 30 days in Total.

Can I extend my stay for more than the limit?

If you wish to request an extension, you can submit your application to the visa section of the Department of Immigration.

Do I need to book a flight before applying to the ETA?

That's not necessary! You can apply for the ETA even before you have booked a flight.

If I have a business ETA, can I apply to the tourist ETA?

Unfortunately, no. You can only have one valid visa on the passport, so you'll have to wait till it expires.

Do I need to get the tourist ETA for my kids?

If your children are under 12 they're exempt from paying the ETA.

I have more questions, do you offer more information?

Of course! If you still have doubts, you can visit this page to clear any of them. Or you can call our customer service here, that is available 24/7 to help you.
