The citizens of Maldives can apply for a visa on arrival. Thailand issues such documents to the citizens of 21 countries, and the Maldives is one of them. Consequently, if you are a Maldivian, you are not required to go to the Thai embassy any longer. You can get your visa at one of the 48 immigration checkpoints in Thailand. Even better, you can apply online using the services of iVisa.

Just because iVisa will do all the work, it does not mean you must do nothing. It is true that your efforts are minimal, and all you have to do is provide some information. Here is a list of what you need:

  • Valid passport – getting a passport is easy for most travelers, and if you already own one, take a look at when it expires. The passport needs to maintain its validity for at least another 30 days from your date of arrival to Thailand.

  • Return flight ticket – the Thailand visa on arrival allows you to spend only 15 days inside the country, so you need to have a confirmed return flight ticket that proves your return within those 15 days.

  • Proof of accommodation – you need to have a hotel reservation or a signed letter from a host that states you have a place to stay during your trip to Thailand.

  • Valid e-mail address – once you apply on iVisa, they will send you an application form that you need to fill in before your trip. You will receive the document above via e-mail, which is why you need to make sure that the address you provide is valid.

  • Means of payment – by applying online, you must pay iVisa for its services. You can make the payment using a credit or a debit card. If you have a Paypal account, you can use that as well.

How to apply and how much does it cost?

First things first, the visa on arrival itself must be paid once you arrive in Thailand and only using Thai currency. The cost is 2000 THB ($65). iVisa will just send you the application form so that you do not spend time in line at the service counter. As for that, the money you owe to iVisa depends on which processing time you select. You have three options:

  1. Standard processing – people who apply online often choose this option because it is the cheapest. You will be charged $20, and your application takes just 1 business day to go through.

  2. Rush processing – this option shortens the previous processing time to only 2 hours. The cost, though, is a bit higher. This option costs $50.

  3. Super Rush processing – this is the fastest option you can find. It costs $70, but your application is processed in as little as 15 minutes. It is ideal for people who want their visa ASAP.

iVisa created a straightforward application process that consists of two steps. Firstly, you need to provide the required information and choose a processing time, and second, you need to make the payment and revise everything to make sure that all of your info is accurate and spelled correctly.

iVisa may not hand you the Thailand visa on arrival itself, but you have to admit that it makes things a whole lot easier. In Thailand, you only need to pay and get your stamp, not stand in line. The visa allows you to spend maximum 15 days in Thailand, and you can use it for multiple entries.

Note: you can apply online using iVisa only if you travel to Thailand by air and you land at Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok.
