The truth is that not all countries have the same standard when it comes to passport size. In fact, the only thing they do not agree on is size because the rest of the requirements are the same. Now, for example, in the United States, the passport-sized photograph must measure 2 by 2 inches (51mm x 51 mm). This is a generally accepted passport photo size, but some countries may have different standards. The UK has a 3.5 x 3.5 cm, for instance. The most important aspect here is that the Uganda visa photo size needs to be 2 by 2 inches. At the same time, you face needs to cover about 60 or 70% of the photo’s surface.

What other specifications the Uganda photo needs to follow?

Since we have established that the Uganda visa photo size needs to be 2 by 2 inches, we think it is a good idea to discuss other requirements the phot needs to meet. After all, when you apply for a Uganda e-visa, you need to be prepared. Here are other criteria that interest you:

  • Background – the photo needs to be always made against an entirely white background. Different colors may lead to a rejection. Patterns are not accepted either, and there should also be no shadows or other people in the picture.
  • Facial expression – the only face gesture accepted for a visa picture is a natural smile but only as long as you do not make a full smile and show your teeth. Your mouth needs to be closed, and you cannot squint or frown.
  • Head position – your face should look directly at the camera. You cannot rotate or tilt it, and you cannot place your head at any angle.
  • Lighting – the face must be illuminated by the camera’s flash. Shadows or red eyes are to be avoided.
  • Glasses – there are few instances in which glasses are accepted, but you should take your glasses off when you have your picture taken. You cannot risk any glare.
  • Headwear – the only situation in which headwear is accepted is when the person who has his or her picture taken wears something on his/her head for religious reasons. Even so, the face must be visible from the tip of the chin to the forehead.

Other specifications include not wearing headphones or wireless earpieces. The photo needs to be taken in the last 6 months, and you need to have it printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper.
