If you like architecture and history, Saint Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral is the place for you, located in Kyiv, this monument is considered the most impressive architectural monument of the city, due to its rich history and impressive construction. This monument was constructed in 1108 by the sons of the Grand Duke of Kyiv, Izyaslav Yaraslavovich. Then in 1113, the Byzantine-style cathedral was inaugurated. Sadly due to a series of attacks made by the Mongols, the building structure was strongly damaged. As a result of this damage, the cathedral and the rest of the structure were rebuilt, and in 1495 was renamed Saint Michael’s in honor of the Archangel Michel, the patron of Kyiv. The cathedral was sentenced for demolition in 1934 by the Soviet authorities because of their negative stand on Christianity. However, thanks to the course of political history in Ukraine it was fully restored in 1990. All this restoration is almost the original version thanks to the findings of old cathedra’s relics, paintings, mosaics, etc. As you can see this majestic building has a history like no other, and its restoration has made it possible to be one of the principal destinations in Ukraine. Add it to your schedule for the visit to Saint Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral, you will love it!
