Frequently asked questions

No. The Israel ETA (ETA-IL) is only mandatory for citizens of visa-exempt countries (like the US, UK, and Canada). If you already require a traditional sticker visa to enter Israel, you don't need an ETA. Israeli citizens and permanent residents with a valid ID number are also exempt and should travel using their Israeli documents.
Yes. If you're from a visa-exempt country and transiting through Ben Gurion Airport or any other Israeli port to a third destination, you must have an approved ETA-IL. This requirement applies even if you don't plan to leave the airport's international transit area.
Yes. The ETA-IL is required for all border crossings, including air, land (e.g., from Jordan or Egypt), and sea. You must obtain your approval before reaching any Israeli border point to ensure a smooth entry process.
Yes. Every traveler, regardless of age, must have their own individual ETA-IL linked to their specific passport. Minors cannot be added to a parent's application; a separate form must be completed for each child, including infants, before they can board a flight or cross the border.
An ETA-IL is primarily for tourism, business meetings, and short-term study (under 90 days). If you're enrolling in a full-time university program or taking a job in Israel, you must apply for a specific Student (A/2) or Work (B/1) visa at an Israeli consulate. You cannot switch from an ETA to a work or study status after you've arrived.
Yes. Your ETA-IL is digitally linked to your passport number. If your passport expires, is lost, or you get a new one due to a name change, your current ETA becomes void. You'll need to submit a brand-new application and pay the fee again using your new passport details.
If you're a dual citizen (e.g., holding both a US and an Israeli passport), you shouldn't apply for an ETA. Israeli law requires you to enter and exit Israel using your Israeli passport. The system won't issue an ETA to anyone recognized as an Israeli citizen in the national registry.
The ETA-IL allows a stay of up to 90 days. If you need to stay longer, you must visit a Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) office within Israel to request an extension. It's recommended to do this at least two weeks before your initial 90-day period ends to avoid overstaying penalties.
The Israel ETA is usually processed quickly. We recommend applying at least 2 days before your departure date to account for any unexpected government delays.
You are notified by email. Most refusals come from simple clerical errors such as a wrong passport number, though a history of overstaying in Israel or a security flag can also cause one. You can usually reapply with a completely new, corrected application. iVisa offers denial protection and our experts can often help.
One traveler pays from $99.99. Includes all government fees. Faster processing costs more, and every option is priced above.
