Frequently asked questions

No. The Check-MIG is a mandatory digital registration for all travelers entering or leaving Colombia, regardless of nationality. It is not a visa and doesn't replace one. If your nationality requires a visa to enter Colombia (such as a Tourist or Visitor Visa), you must obtain that separately before completing your Check-MIG form.
You must submit the form between 72 hours and 1 hour before your flight's departure. We recommend completing it at least 24 hours in advance to ensure you have your confirmation email ready for check-in, as most airlines will not allow you to board without it.
Yes. Colombia requires a Check-MIG for both entry and exit. You must complete a new form specifically for your departure from the country within the 72-hour window before your flight out. Failing to do so can result in delays at immigration control in the airport.
Most visa-exempt travelers (from the US, Canada, UK, and EU) are granted a stay of up to 90 days upon arrival. This permit is determined by the immigration officer at the border. You can extend this for an additional 90 days, allowing for a total of 180 days per calendar year.
Yes. You can apply for a stay extension (Prórroga de Permanencia) online through the Migración Colombia website. You should apply at least 15 days before your initial 90-day permit expires. Note that there is a processing fee for this extension, though it is currently waived for citizens of Schengen countries.
You will only need to complete the Check-MIG form if you plan to leave the international transit area or clear immigration.
If you arrive at the airport without it, you'll be required to fill it out on your mobile device before you're allowed to check in or enter the immigration line. This can cause significant delays or lead to missing your flight, as the official portal can be slow during peak travel times.
Yes. Every traveler, including infants and minors, must have an individual Check-MIG confirmation. Parents or legal guardians can complete the form on behalf of the child, but the data must match the child's passport exactly.
One traveler pays from $69.99. Includes all government fees. Faster processing costs more, and every option is priced above.
