Angola eVisa on Arrival

The Angola eVisa on Arrival is a digital travel document that allows eligible nationalities to enter Angola for short stays of up to 30 days. It can be used for tourism or business travel and is valid for one entry, with the possibility of extension once in Angola.

The process starts online – you apply for pre-approval, and once granted, you’ll receive a confirmation letter to present upon arrival in Angola. The actual visa is issued at the airport.

Angola Tourist Visa*

This visa allows foreigners to visit Angola for tourism, leisure, or family visits. It permits a stay of up to 30 days, with the option to extend for an additional 30 days once inside the country.

*You can apply for this visa either as an eVisa on Arrival (if you're eligible, this is what iVisa offers), or through the Angola embassy (for non-eligible nationalities).

*We currently don’t offer this visa, but it’s available via the Angola embassy.

Angola Short Stay Visa*

This visa is for travelers entering Angola for short-term purposes such as attending meetings, carrying out urgent business, participating in humanitarian missions, or reporting as a journalist.

It is typically valid for up to 7 or 10 days and non-renewable. It must be used within 72 hours of issuance and is single-entry only.

*We currently don’t offer this visa, but it’s available via the Angola embassy.

Angola Transit Visa*

The Transit Visa is for travelers passing through Angola on their way to a third country. It’s valid for a maximum of 5 days and does not permit leaving the airport or transit zone unless a special exemption is given.

This visa is required if you’re not visa-exempt and your layover is long or requires you to switch terminals. Travelers must present valid visas or onward tickets for their final destination.

*We currently don’t offer this visa, but it can be requested at the Angola embassy.

Angola visa policy

Angola’s visa requirements depend on your nationality, travel purpose, and intended length of stay. The country offers an eVisa on Arrival system for eligible travelers from over 60 countries, for tourism or short business trips.

To use this system, travelers must apply online for pre-approval before their trip. Once approved, they receive an authorization letter via email, which they must present at the airport in Angola to receive the actual visa. Travelers can stay up to 30 days with the eVisa on arrival.

If you're not eligible for the eVisa on Arrival, you'll need to apply for a traditional visa through the Angolan embassy. This includes all long-term visas, as well as tourist and business visas for non-eligible nationalities.

Angola requires all travelers to hold a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry, and it’s mandatory to carry a yellow fever vaccination certificate.

For the most up-to-date and detailed information, consult the Angolan Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) or the nearest Angolan diplomatic mission.

FAQs

This depends on the visa you’re issued. If you’re unclear, you can contact us on WhatsApp – we're available 24/7.

Once submitted, your application is reviewed for completeness and accuracy. If approved, you will receive a pre-approval letter via email, typically within 3 to 5 business days.

You must print this letter and carry it with you on your trip. Upon arrival in Angola at a designated airport. You will present this document to immigration officials, who will issue your visa on the spot. Without this pre-approval letter, you will not be granted entry.

Standard processing for the eVisa pre-approval typically takes 3–5 business days. However, delays are possible if documents are incomplete, unclear, or if the application is submitted during a holiday or peak travel season.

We’ll process your ETA/AVE as fast as fastest processing speed – you’ll see the exact time during checkout.

The eVisa on Arrival allows a stay of up to 30 days. It may be extended once for an additional 30 days, but this must be done through local immigration offices in Angola before the first visa expires.

These are the approved ports of entry for travelers using the Angola eVisa on Arrival. You must arrive at one of these airports to use your pre-approved eVisa document:

  • Luanda – Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport (LAD)
  • Lubango – Mukanka Airport (SDD)
  • Benguela – Gen. V. Deslandes Airport (BUG)
  • Huambo – Albano Machado Airport (NOV)
  • Catumbela Airport (CBT)

The Angola eVisa on Arrival is meant for tourism only. Even unpaid or remote work is prohibited under this visa category. If you say you're "visiting with a volunteer group," you’re technically working, which can result in denial of entry or visa cancellation

If you're volunteering through an NGO or charity, you may use a Tourist Visa (VTU). This visa allows you to carry out NGO-related visits or volunteer activities, provided you submit official documentation like an invitation or program outline ahead of travel.

For structured or longer-term volunteer roles, you’ll need a Work Visa or Volunteer Permit. Angola enforces strict rules: you'll likely need an official sponsor, a signed agreement, and a permit before arrival.

You can apply for your eVisa approval letter through the government or iVisa (or download our mobile app).

For other visas, you’ll need to complete the application process through the Angola embassy near you, pay the visa fee, and in some cases, schedule an interview.

Supporting documents like your passport, photo, and purpose of travel are required.

No. The eVisa is strictly for tourism or short business visits. Working, including remote work or volunteering, is not permitted. Doing so could result in visa cancellation, deportation, or entry bans.
