What you need to know

  • The Gabon Visa is a single, double or multiple-entry travel document that allows you to enter Gabon for tourism and business purposes. Your entry type is decided by the government.

  • It’s valid for up to 5 years with a maximum stay of 90 days per entry.

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your arrival date in Gabon and must have 2 blank pages.

  • The government visa fee of $160 USD is paid in person at the embassy. However, if you're from the USA, you'll need to pay using a Money Order. Personal checks aren’t accepted.

  • Minors need to apply for this visa just like adults.

How long can I stay in the country with the Gabon Visa?

The visa is valid for 5 years after issued, and you can stay up to 90 days Per Entry.

Can I extend my Gabon Visa while in the country?

It’s currently not clear if the Gabon Visa can be extended. If you need to stay longer in the country, we recommend checking with the Directorate General of Documentation and Immigration (DGDI) in Libreville.

How to apply for the Gabon Visa online

Gabon Visa: Required documents

To start your application for the Gabon Visa, you’ll initially need the following documents and information:

  • Copy of your passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity and at least 1 blank page.

  • A copy of a passport-type photo, in color and taken against a light background.

When you attend the appointment, you’ll need to drop off more documentation. This usually includes the following (once you’ve applied, we’ll send you a full list):

  • Original passport: The original and a copy of your valid passport. Make sure the passport expires 6 months after your intended arrival date.

  • 2 copies of your completed application form, which you’ll receive from us by email.

  • 2 passport-type photos, in color and taken against a light background. Attach each photo to one of the application forms.

  • A Yellow Fever (YF) vaccination certificate for travelers over 9 months old who are traveling to Gabon from a country with a high risk of Yellow Fever.

Additional documents depending on your reason for travel:

  • If you’re traveling for business: Invitation letter from a Gabonese-based company or business contact in Gabon.

  • If you’re traveling for tourism: A confirmation of your hotel reservation, itinerary from a tour guide company, and flight details.

  • If you’re traveling for courtesy: Certificat d'Hebergement (a legalized document obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mayor's Office, Police Station, or City Hall in Gabon).

  • If you’re traveling to visit a diplomat or government official: Official invitation letter from the hosting governmental entity.

Costs and processing time of the Gabon Visa

We divide the processing into two parts:

Do I need a visa to transit in Gabon?

You can use the Gabon eVisa to transit through the country, and you’re leaving the airport, if you’re not from a visa-exempt country.
