Our Egypt eVisa application process

How to apply for your Egypt eVisa with iVisa

1

Complete your online application

Answer a few simple questions to find out whether you need an Egypt eVisa or another document to visit the country. Then, upload your documents, and pay securely. You can save your progress and come back anytime. Most people finish in less than 10 minutes.

We’ll guide you through any unclear steps during the application process.

2

We review your application

The Egypt eVisa system is known for being difficult to navigate – your photo must be the right size, and your passport scan must be clear. We check for errors, missing information, or anything that could slow down your approval.

3

We submit it for government processing

We’re not the Egypt government, but we submit your application to them and are here for you along the way if there are any problems.

4

Get your Egypt visa

Once your Egypt visa application is approved, we’ll notify you by email right away and let you know how to use it for your trip.

Visa types needed for Egypt

  • Egypt eVisa
  • Egypt Tourist Visa*
  • Egypt Visa on Arrival (Tourist VOA)*
  • Sinai Resort Visa Waiver*
  • Egypt Business Visa*

Egypt eVisa

Purpose: The Egypt eVisa is issued for travelers visiting Egypt for tourism purposes, including sightseeing, holidays, and visiting family or friends.

Duration and extensions The Egypt eVisa allows a stay of up to 30 days per visit. It is generally not extendable.

Entries: The Egypt eVisa is available as either a single-entry visa (valid for one entry within its validity period) or a multiple-entry visa (allowing multiple entries within the validity period). Each stay may not exceed 30 days.

Ports of entry: Egypt eVisa holders may enter through designated international airports and major ports of entry, including Cairo International Airport, Hurghada International Airport, Sharm El Sheikh International Airport, and other approved entry points.

Delivery format: The approved eVisa is issued electronically and sent via email as a PDF. Travelers must print a copy of the approved eVisa and present it, along with their valid passport, upon arrival in Egypt.

Egypt Tourist Visa*

The tourist visa issued by Egyptian embassies or consulates is designed for those traveling for leisure, sightseeing, or visiting family and friends.

It usually allows you to stay in Egypt for up to 90 days. To apply, you’ll need to visit the nearest Egyptian embassy or consulate in person, submit a visa application form, a passport photo, proof of where you’ll be staying, and sometimes a return flight booking.

*We currently don't offer this visa.

Egypt Visa on Arrival (Tourist VOA)*

Travelers visiting Egypt for tourism can also opt for a visa on arrival, which is issued directly at major international airports. This visa allows a single entry and is valid for 30 days from the date of entry into Egypt.

The VOA is only available to citizens of certain countries, but in some cases, holding a valid US, UK, or Schengen visa can make travelers eligible even if they wouldn’t normally qualify.

*We don't offer this visa. It's issued at certain entry points upon arrival.

Sinai Resort Visa Waiver*

If you’re only planning to stay in the Sinai Peninsula, you may be eligible for the Sinai Resort Visa Waiver. This is a free entry stamp issued when you arrive at airports in Sharm El-Sheikh, Taba, or St. Catherine, as well as some land border crossings.

The stamp allows a single entry and is valid for up to 14 days, but it cannot be extended. With this option, you are limited to staying in specific resort areas such as Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, and Taba, and you cannot travel to other parts of Egypt.

It’s available to travelers of certain nationalities, including US citizens, EU citizens, and Israelis entering through the Taba crossing.

*We currently don’t offer this document; you can receive the entry stamp directly at entry points in Sinai.

Egypt Business Visa*

For those traveling to Egypt for work-related reasons, such as attending meetings, conferences, or exhibitions, the business visa is the appropriate option.

Typically valid for stays of up to 90 days, this visa can be issued for either single or multiple entries depending on your needs. Extensions are possible if required.

To apply, you must visit an Egyptian embassy or consulate, where you’ll need to provide an invitation letter from your host in Egypt along with other supporting business documents.

*We currently don’t offer this visa.

Egypt visa policy

Most foreign nationals must obtain a visa before traveling to Egypt. Egypt offers several visa options, including the Egypt eVisa, a visa on arrival (VoA) for eligible nationalities, and visas issued through Egyptian embassies or consulates.

Citizens of many countries — including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and European Union member states — may obtain a Visa on Arrival at Egyptian international airports for stays of up to 30 days or apply in advance for an Egypt eVisa online. Travelers are encouraged to apply for the eVisa prior to departure to avoid delays upon arrival.

Eligible travelers visiting specific resort areas in South Sinai (such as Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, and Taba) may receive a free entry permission stamp valid for up to 15 days.

General Egypt visa requirements are:

  • Passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival
  • Recent passport-size photo
  • Travel details (such as flight itinerary and accommodation address)
  • Valid email address
  • Payment of the applicable visa fee
  • Additional supporting documents depending on the purpose of travel (such as a business invitation letter, if required)
