Can I use a Passport Card to apply for the Mexico Tourist Card?

Yes. For land border crossings only, a US Passport Card is an acceptable form of identification to obtain your Mexico Tourist Card. However, if you plan to fly within Mexico or return to your home country by air, you'll need a standard passport.

How long can I stay in Mexico with a Tourist Card?

You can be granted up to 180 days. However, the specific number of days is decided by the immigration officer at the border. They'll write the expiration date on your stamped form. It's important to check this date immediately to ensure you don't overstay.

Do I need to get my Mexico Tourist Card stamped?

Yes. If you apply online, your Tourist Card is not valid until it’s stamped by an official at the border's INM (Instituto Nacional de Migración) office. Entering without a stamp means you're in the country illegally, which can lead to fines or detention at internal checkpoints.

What happens if I lose my Mexico Tourist Card?
