Dominica ED Card

Purpose: The Dominica Electronic Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) Card is a mandatory online entry form required for all travelers entering and departing Dominica, whether visa-free or visa-required, for tourism, business, or other short visits.

When to apply: Travelers must complete the ED Card online at any time prior to arrival in Dominica.

Ports of entry: The ED Card is required for entry through all official ports of entry, including Douglas-Charles Airport, Canefield Airport, and seaports in Dominica.

Delivery format: After completing the online form, travelers receive a confirmation (QR code) by email, which must be presented — either digitally or printed — along with a valid passport upon arrival.

You need a visitor (tourist) visa only if your nationality is not on Dominica’s visa-exempt list. You can get a visa through the Dominica government or embassy.

Even with a visa, you must complete Dominica’s digital ED Card before travel.

Dominica visa policy

Dominica allows visa-free entry to citizens of many countries, such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, European Union member states, Australia, and most Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries, to enter Dominica without a visa for tourism or business visits, typically for stays ranging from 21 days up to 6 months, depending on nationality.

Travelers from countries not eligible for visa-free entry must obtain a visa prior to travel through a Dominican embassy or consulate. All travelers are required to complete the Dominica Electronic Embarkation/Disembarkation (ED) Card online prior to arrival and present confirmation upon entry.

Do I need a visa to visit Dominica?

Many travelers don’t. Citizens of the UK, US, Canada, most EU countries, Commonwealth nations, and CARICOM states are generally visa-exempt for tourism or short business visits.

If your nationality is not visa-exempt, you must obtain a visitor visa before traveling through a Dominican embassy/consulate or the Immigration Division.

Important: All travelers must still fill out the Dominica ED Card, this is a separate requirement.

How long can I stay in Dominica without a visa?

Visa-free stay length depends on your passport. Many exempt visitors are typically granted around 3 to 6 months on arrival, but the exact length is decided by the immigration officer at entry and can be shorter or longer within your exemption rules. Extensions may be possible in-country through immigration.

What documents do I need to enter Dominica visa-free?

Bring a valid passport, a return/onward ticket, proof of where you’ll stay (hotel booking or local address), and evidence you can support yourself financially during the trip. Immigration may ask to see any of these before stamping you in.

What is the Dominica ED Card and is it required?

The online ED Card (Embarkation/Disembarkation Card) is Dominica’s digital immigration and customs form. It is mandatory for all travelers, both visa-free and visa-required - and must be completed before arrival.

When should I submit the Dominica ED Card?

Submit it any time before you travel. After submitting, you’ll get a confirmation/QR code - save it on your phone or print it to show on arrival (and often again on departure).

What happens if I don’t complete the Dominica ED Card before flying?

You may be delayed at check-in, boarding, or arrival because airlines and border officers may require confirmation before allowing you to proceed.

If you forget, you’ll likely need to complete it online or in person at the airport. Doing it in advance is strongly recommended to avoid queues and delays.

Do children and infants need an ED Card too?

Yes. Every traveler, including children and infants, must have an ED Card completed in their name.

Is Dominica the same as the Dominican Republic?

No, these are different countries with different entry rules. Dominica is a smaller island nation in the Eastern Caribbean. Make sure your documents and ED Card are for Dominica (DMA), not the Dominican Republic.
