The Bahamas has initiated a soft launch of its Digital Arrival Card (BDAC), marking the first time the country has introduced a digital system to replace traditional paper-based immigration forms for visitors.
According to an official announcement from the Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation published on May 5, 2026, the pilot phase allows select visitors to complete their entry documentation online via a dedicated web form prior to arrival. The Digital Arrival Card functions as both an immigration card and a customs declaration.
The pilot is currently being offered to selected flights as part of the initial phase, reducing the need for paper forms at participating ports of entry.
A collaborative effort
The pilot is being carried out through collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, the Bahamas Immigration Department, and the Bahamas Customs Department. The initiative follows successful system testing conducted over several months and the passage of amendments to the Immigration Act, which established the legal framework for digital entry documentation.
During the pilot period, the traditional paper-based process remains in place alongside the digital option, allowing for real-time evaluation, system refinement, and stakeholder feedback.
Government welcomes the milestone
The Hon. I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, said:
"This represents a critical step forward for The Bahamas. The Digital Arrival Card is not simply a technological upgrade; it is a statement of commitment to innovation. We are focused on ensuring that when fully implemented, it delivers a seamless and effortless arrival experience for every visitor to our shores."
Latia Duncombe, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, described the pilot as the result of years of deliberate planning and collaboration across government, adding that the goal is to ensure the platform enhances the visitor journey from the very first touchpoint.
