Belgium and Luxembourg travelers can apply for eVisas for the Philippines

Foreign nationals applying for a Philippine visa through the Brussels mission no longer need to visit the embassy in person to get a physical visa sticker in their passport.

Since July 20, the Philippine Embassy in Brussels has been processing temporary visitor visa applications through the Philippine eVisa portal for eligible foreign nationals in Belgium and Luxembourg, according to the Philippine Embassy in Belgium.

What changed for applicants

Before July 20, applicants covered by the Brussels mission had to submit their temporary visitor visa application in person and wait for a physical visa sticker in their passport.

Now, eligible applicants can complete the process through the eVisa portal, submitting documents and payment online instead of visiting the embassy for every step.

The service covers foreign nationals in Belgium and Luxembourg seeking temporary entry for tourism and business purposes.

Do Belgian and Luxembourg citizens need this eVisa?

No, Belgian and Luxembourg passport holders still get visa-free entry for stays up to 30 days in the Philippines, subject to standard passport and onward-travel conditions.

Those who plan to stay longer must apply for the appropriate visa before departure. The eVisa system allows eligible foreign nationals covered by the Brussels mission to apply for a standard temporary visitor visa without an in-person visit to the embassy.

Part of a wider European rollout

The Brussels launch is the latest step in a broader push by the Philippines' Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to move visa processing online across its European posts.

The DFA first launched the eVisa platform in 2023 as a beta test for travelers from Shanghai, later expanding it to additional Chinese cities in November 2025, and extending it into Europe this year.

What this means for travelers

The move to online processing coincides with a recent boost in tourism to the Philippines. The Bureau of Immigration recorded 15,608,868 passenger arrivals in 2025, including 6,704,007 foreign nationals, an increase of almost six percent from the previous year.

For eligible applicants in Belgium and Luxembourg, the practical change is fewer trips to the embassy. Documents and payment can now be submitted remotely, with the visa issued electronically instead of as a sticker in the passport.
