Important Instructions

Suriname is a small country in the north of South America. Its most significant treasure is nature. Almost a third of its surface area was declared a nature reserve. Depending on when you travel to Suriname, you can witness several natural phenomena that will leave you in awe. Beaches like Galibi and Albina are where leatherback sea turtles come to breed. If you go to a more remote island, you can witness the same thing but with fewer people around. Then, you may be lucky enough to spot river dolphins. The mangrove forests are also something that is worth seeing. And let’s not forget that the Amazon rainforest covers most of Suriname’s surface. Flora and fauna are spectacular.

Before you travel to Suriname, you need to see whether or not you need a visa to enter the country. Chances are that you may not since Suriname’s visa policy acknowledges many nationalities as visa exempt. As a result, the eligible nationalities can enter Suriname without a visa and stay there for up to 90 days. At the same time, visas on arrival are available for the nationalities which qualify, but they are sold under the name of Tourist Card. Again, the grated period of stay on a Tourist Card is maximum 90 days. All the other nationalities must visit the nearest Surinamese diplomatic mission and apply for a visa.

To find out whether you are eligible for a visa exemption or not, you can take a look at Suriname’s visa policy. On the other hand, using iVisa’s Visa Checker is far more convenient. Access the tool located in the top right corner of this page. You then select your country of origin from the left drag-down menu and Suriname as the destination in the right menu. The result will be displayed in just a second and lets you know if you do not require a visa or are eligible for a visa on arrival. If you do need a consular visa, you will be provided with a list of the nearest embassies you can go to and apply.

Because electronic visas are not available for Suriname, iVisa does not process applications. We would like to help despite that, which is why our free support service is at your disposal 24/7.

In case you need a Suriname visa, you must learn about the requirements so that you can make sure you meet them. You can do your research online because the internet is full of information. However, we recommend to use it as a reference only because not everything you find online is reliable. The best thing you can do is call the issuing authority and make your inquiries there. They can give you the most reliable information. In the meantime, we can tell you that all foreigners who travel to Suriname need to have a valid passport that remains valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival.

Even though we cannot help you get your Suriname visa per se, we hope that the information in this article points you in the right direction.
