Suriname Entry Fee

The Suriname Entry Fee is a mandatory online payment required for visa-exempt travelers entering the country for tourism or family visits. The Entry Fee Voucher must be obtained before departure and is valid for a single entry.

If you re-enter Suriname, you must pay the fee again and obtain a new voucher. The permitted stay is up to 90 days per entry. Extensions are not allowed.

Required Documents

  • 🪪 A passport valid for 6 months beyond your arrival date in Suriname
  • 💳 Credit or debit card – to pay the entry fee and iVisa service fees
  • 📧 A valid email address – to receive the Entry Fee Voucher and updates

Tourist eVisa / Tourist Card*

The Tourist eVisa and Tourist Card allow entry into Suriname for tourism or family visits. They are available online and serve as streamlined alternatives for eligible travelers, offering shorter processing times with fewer supporting documents. Validity and permitted stays are generally up to 90 days, depending on the traveler’s nationality.

Unfortunately, we don’t currently offer this visa*

Business eVisa*

The Suriname Business eVisa allows entry for business purposes but does not grant permission to work in the country. It may be issued for up to five years, with either single or multiple entries, depending on the permit granted. Stays are limited to a maximum of 90 days, though extensions can be requested through Suriname’s immigration authorities while in the country.

Unfortunately, we don’t currently offer this visa*

Transit Visa*

The Transit Visa is required for travelers passing through Suriname en route to another destination. It is valid for up to three days, issued as a single-entry document, and cannot be extended.

Additional Visas*

  • Suriname Temporary Stay Authorization (MKV – Machtiging tot Kort Verblijf): The Temporary Stay Authorization, or MKV, is required for stays longer than three months for purposes such as work, study, family reunification, or official assignments. Its validity is linked to the purpose of the application, with single- or multiple-entry options available. The stay exceeds 90 days as indicated on the visa, and extensions may be requested through Suriname’s immigration authorities.

  • Employment Visa: The Employment Visa is required for foreign nationals intending to work in Suriname. Unlike the Business eVisa, which covers short-term business activities, the Employment Visa allows holders to engage in formal employment for longer periods. Validity and entries depend on the terms of employment, and applicants may need to apply for additional permits through Suriname’s immigration authorities.

  • Family Visa: The Family Visa is issued to individuals joining immediate family members in Suriname, such as spouses, children, or parents of citizens or residents. Validity and entry conditions are determined case by case, often depending on the sponsor’s residency status. Stays may be long-term and, in many cases, require follow-up with Suriname’s immigration office for continued residence rights.

  • Student Visa: The Student Visa is available for those undertaking educational programs in Suriname that are not covered under the Temporary Stay Authorization (MKV). It is intended for courses of shorter duration, internships, or exchange programs. Validity and entries vary depending on the nature of the study and are determined at the time of application.

Suriname visa policy

Most foreign nationals traveling for tourism, business, or family visits must pay an Entry Fee before arrival and obtain authorization to enter the country. This Entry Fee is processed online and applies to travelers staying in Suriname for up to 90 days. The entry fee is not a visa but is mandatory for most visitors, with a few nationalities exempt from this requirement.

Additional visa categories are available for travelers from countries not eligible for the Entry Fee system or those seeking to visit Suriname for purposes beyond tourism and business, such as work, study, or extended stays.

The Tourist Card is issued to eligible nationals for tourism purposes and is valid for short stays. Business travelers may apply for a business eVisa, provided they have the necessary supporting documents, such as an invitation from a Surinamese company. Transit visas are required for those passing through Suriname who intend to leave the airport transit zone.

For longer stays exceeding 90 days, such as employment, internships, or academic programs, travelers must apply for a Temporary Stay Authorization (Machtiging tot Kort Verblijf, or MKV) before entering Suriname. This process requires submitting detailed supporting documents, including sponsorship letters, proof of financial means, and sometimes a police clearance certificate. The MKV must be applied for through a Surinamese embassy or consulate.

Suriname’s immigration authorities may impose additional entry requirements, such as proof of yellow fever vaccination, for travelers from certain countries. All travelers must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond their arrival date in the country. Before planning your trip, it is recommended to consult the official Suriname government websites or diplomatic missions to confirm the latest visa requirements and application procedures.

You can apply for the Suriname entry fee through the iVisa platform by submitting your passport details and paying the required fees. The approved confirmation must be presented upon arrival in Suriname.

The Suriname entry fee covers a single trip of up to 90 days. If you leave Suriname and return, you must pay the fee again for each new entry.

The Suriname Business eVisa is an electronic visa for foreign nationals visiting Suriname for short-term business activities such as attending meetings or conferences. Travelers who are not eligible for the entry fee and plan to engage in business-related activities must apply for this eVisa before traveling.

You can apply for the Suriname Business eVisa through the official Suriname eVisa portal. The application requires a valid passport, a recent passport photo, proof of accommodation, a travel itinerary, and an invitation letter from the business contact in Suriname.

The Suriname Business eVisa typically allows for a stay of up to 90 days, depending on the specific authorization granted during the application process.

If you are transiting through Suriname and intend to leave the airport transit zone, you will need a transit eVisa. However, if you remain in the international transit area and do not pass through immigration, a transit visa is not required.

You can apply for a transit visa through the official Suriname eVisa website. You must submit your passport information, proof of onward travel, and payment of the applicable fees.

Business and transit visas may have limited extension options and travelers should inquire directly with the Suriname Immigration Office.
