This diplomatic push aims to accelerate international tourism and simplify travel logistics for key bilateral partners. The timeline for these reciprocal agreements was shared by Nikita Kondratyev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. Kondratyev stated in a media briefing reported by the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA):

"Malaysia and Indonesia are key priorities for this year. We are also expecting Kuwait. These are probably the three countries with which we want to complete the negotiation process this year."

Kondratyev revealed the plans during interviews held on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which took place from June 3 to June 6, 2026. The economic summit, themed "Pragmatic Dialogue: The Path to a Stable Future," drew representatives from 142 countries and resulted in over 1,000 bilateral agreements worth an estimated 6.642 trillion roubles.

The economic ministry official indicated that technical discussions are already moving forward, expressing strong optimism that the Russian Foreign Ministry will escalate coordination to finalize legal frameworks and cross-border protocols.
