Ghana and St. Kitts and Nevis sign visa-free agreement

Ghana and St. Kitts and Nevis have signed a visa exemption agreement for holders of ordinary passports, removing visa requirements for citizens traveling between the two countries. The agreement was announced on March 5, 2026, during the official state visit of St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew to Ghana, where he met with President John Dramani Mahama in Accra.

The measure is expected to facilitate easier travel and expand opportunities for tourism, business, cultural exchange, and educational cooperation.

Prime Minister Drew noted the significance of the agreement:

"By removing visa requirements, we are making it easier for our people to connect, collaborate, and explore new opportunities. This is about deepening bonds and opening doors."

Expanding on existing ties

The two countries previously signed a reciprocal visa waiver agreement for holders of diplomatic and official/service passports in November 2018, allowing officials to travel without a visa. The new agreement extends this arrangement to holders of regular passports, representing a further step in strengthening bilateral relations.
