Short-Stay Visa (Sticker Visa)*

This is the standard visa for most short visits, including tourism, business trips, conferences, or short-term family visits. It's issued as a sticker in your passport and can be valid for up to 90 days. Single or multiple-entry options are available depending on your itinerary.

Additional documents such as a hotel reservation, invitation letter, or proof of financial means may be required depending on your purpose of travel.

*Unfortunately, we currently don’t offer the Short-Stay Visa.

Long-Stay Visa*

If you’re planning to stay more than 90 days – whether it's for employment, studies, long-term family reunification, or investment – this visa is your starting point. While it's issued for longer stays, you may still be limited to 90 days per 180-day period unless you also apply for residency.

This type of visa often requires detailed documentation like work contracts, university enrollment, proof of income, police clearance, and medical certificates.

*Unfortunately, we currently don’t offer the Long-Stay Visa.

Transit Visa*

This visa is for travelers who need to pass through Burkina Faso en route to another destination. It's typically valid for up to 5 days and must be used strictly for transit purposes. If you're staying in the airport or just crossing borders briefly, this visa is for you.

You’ll likely need to show proof of your final destination, confirmed travel dates, and a visa (if required) for the country you're heading to.

*Unfortunately, we currently don’t offer the Transit Visa.

Official Visa*

This visa is reserved for diplomats, government representatives, or individuals affiliated with recognized religious, humanitarian, or international organizations. It is issued based on official requests and must be supported by a diplomatic note or letter from the appropriate institution.

Travelers in this category may benefit from reduced fees or expedited processing, but they must still meet all basic entry requirements.

*Unfortunately, we currently don’t offer the Official Visa.

Burkina Faso visa policy

Burkina Faso’s visa policy depends on your nationality, travel reason, and length of stay. Citizens from ECOWAS countries can enter visa-free for up to 90 days. A few other nationalities, including travelers from Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, also enjoy short-term visa exemptions.

If you're not from a visa-exempt country, you may be eligible for a visa on arrival. This option allows for a stay of up to 30 days and is typically available at major airports and land border crossings. The visa fee varies depending on whether you choose a single-entry or multiple-entry option.

Travelers not eligible for visa-free entry or a visa on arrival must apply in advance. The easiest way to do this is by applying for the Burkina Faso eVisa online, valid for stays of up to 90 days. Alternatively, you can apply at a Burkina Faso embassy or consulate in your home country.

To enter the country, your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date and have at least one blank page. You may also be asked to show proof of travel plans, accommodation, sufficient funds, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate.

Transit passengers can generally pass through Burkina Faso without a visa if they remain in the airport for less than 24 hours and have a confirmed onward ticket. However, travelers from certain countries may still require a transit visa.

Diplomatic, official, and service passport holders from select countries may be eligible for visa-free entry or simplified procedures. This includes countries with bilateral agreements or those traveling on official duty.
