Greek visa policy for Israeli citizens

Israeli travelers do not currently need a visa to visit Greece for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism or business. However, once the new travel authorization system is operational, Israeli travelers will need to obtain an ETIAS authorization before entering Greece or any other Schengen Area country. The system is currently expected to be fully implemented by the end of 2026.

Israelis will need one Greek entry document:

  • ETIAS for Greece: A mandatory online travel authorization for visa-exempt travelers visiting the Schengen Area. Once implemented, it will allow Israelis to enter Greece for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism, business, or transit. It will be valid for 3 years or until the traveler’s passport expires.

General Greece entry requirements for Israeli travelers are:

  • Israel passport valid for at least 3 months after the planned departure date from the Schengen Area
  • Confirmed return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel reservation or invitation letter)
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the duration of the stay
  • Travel itinerary or purpose of visit
  • Other supporting documents, depending on purpose/situation

Frequently asked questions about getting the Greece visa with a Israel passport

No, Israeli visitors do not need a visa to visit Greece for tourism or business stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

However, once the ETIAS system is operational, Israeli travelers will need to obtain an ETIAS travel authorization before entering Greece or any other Schengen Area country.

The ETIAS system has not launched yet, so official processing times have not been confirmed.

Most applications are expected to be processed quickly once the system becomes operational. With iVisa, you can apply for the ETIAS for Greece online and receive expert guidance throughout the process.

Israelis can stay in Greece and the wider Schengen Area for up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism, business, or transit without a visa. Once ETIAS becomes mandatory, travelers will still be able to stay for up to 90 days within a 180-day period under the same conditions.

Israeli passport holders generally do not need a visa for airport transit in Greece if they remain in the international transit area and do not pass through immigration. If you need to leave the airport or enter the Schengen Area during transit, you must meet the standard entry requirements, such as having an ETIAS (once implemented).

No, the ETIAS you use to enter Greece is valid for all 30 countries under the ETIAS scheme. You don’t need to apply for a new one for every country you visit.

Short stays cannot normally be extended, but exceptional cases exist (medical, force majeure).

Currently, Greece has not introduced entry bans on Israeli citizens. Israeli travelers can still enter Greece under the same rules as other visa-exempt nationalities.

Travel advisories or airline schedules may change during periods of regional conflict, but entry rules remain unchanged.
