Sri Lankan visa policy for Hungarian citizens

Hungarian citizens need a visa to travel to Sri Lanka. The required travel document is the Sri Lankan Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), which must be obtained before departure. Sri Lanka does not offer visa-free entry or a visa-on-arrival for Hungarian passport holders.

iVisa offers Sri Lankan entry documents for Hungarian travelers:

  • Sri Lanka Tourist ETA: an electronic authorization for leisure travel, sightseeing, or visiting family and friends. It allows stays of up to 30 days per entry and is generally issued with double-entry validity.
  • Sri Lanka Business ETA: an electronic authorization for short-term business activities such as meetings or conferences. It allows multiple entries, with each stay limited to 30 days.

General Sri Lankan ETA requirements for Hungarian travelers are:

  • Hungarian passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Passport-style photograph
  • Travel itinerary or return/onward ticket
  • Proof of accommodation of the invitation letter
  • Supporting documents depending on travel purpose

The Tourist ETA is for leisure, sightseeing, visiting family and friends, and is typically issued as a double-entry authorization with stays of up to 30 days per entry. The Business ETA is for attending meetings and conferences, as well as short-term professional visits, and is usually issued as a multiple-entry authorization, with each stay limited to 30 days. Paid employment is not permitted on either ETA.
