General Sri Lanka entry requirements for German travelers are: German passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date; Confirmed return or onward flight ticket; Evidence of sufficient financial funds for the duration of the stay; Proof of accommodation (hotel reservation or host address); Other supporting documents, depending on purpose/situation (e.g., business invitation letter).

However, obtaining a VoA may involve significant wait times at the border. It’s always safer to secure your approval before you fly.

Can I extend my stay in Sri Lanka beyond the initial 30 days?

Yes. If you wish to stay longer, you can apply for an Extension of Stay at the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Colombo or through their official online extension portal. You can extend your stay for up to six months in total. Please note that extension fees apply and vary depending on the length of the additional stay requested.

Do German children and infants need their own ETA?

Yes. Every traveler, regardless of age, must have their own approved ETA to enter the country.
