German citizens do not currently need a visa to visit the Philippines for short stays of up to 30 days for tourism or business. Travelers can extend this stay for an additional 29 days at any Bureau of Immigration office once in the country.

Philippines eTravel registration: A mandatory digital travel system for all inbound travelers. You must register within 72 hours of arrival to receive a QR code that replaces the paper arrival and health declaration cards.

General Philippines entry requirements for German travelers are:

German passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date
Confirmed return or onward flight ticket to the country of origin or next destination
Completed eTravel registration
Evidence of sufficient financial funds for the duration of the stay
Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or residential address)

How do I extend my stay beyond the initial 30 days?

If you wish to stay longer, you must apply for a visa extension at any Bureau of Immigration (BI) office in the Philippines. The first extension is typically for 29 days (bringing your total stay to 59 days).

Can I legally work in the Philippines while on a tourist visa or extension?

No. You cannot legally work in the Philippines on a tourist visa. This includes local employment and long-term remote work for a Philippine-based entity. To work legally, you must secure an Alien Employment Permit (AEP) and a 9(g) Pre-arranged Employee Visa. Engaging in paid work without the correct visa can lead to immediate deportation and a permanent ban on re-entry.

What are the consequences if I overstay my authorized stay?

Overstaying is a serious violation. You’ll be required to pay a fine of 500 PHP per month plus additional processing fees before you can leave. If the overstay is significant (usually over 12 months) or if you fail to settle the fees, you may face detention, deportation, and blacklisting, which prevents you from returning to the Philippines in the future.
