How do I extend my stay beyond the initial 30 days?

Can I legally work in the Philippines while on a tourist visa or extension?

No. You cannot legally work in the Philippines on a tourist visa. This includes local employment and long-term remote work for a Philippine-based entity. To work legally, you must secure an Alien Employment Permit (AEP) and a 9(g) Pre-arranged Employee Visa. Engaging in paid work without the correct visa can lead to immediate deportation and a permanent ban on re-entry.

What are the consequences if I overstay my authorized stay?

Overstaying is a serious violation. You’ll be required to pay a fine of 500 PHP per month plus additional processing fees before you can leave. If the overstay is significant (usually over 12 months) or if you fail to settle the fees, you may face detention, deportation, and blacklisting, which prevents you from returning to the Philippines in the future.
