Philippines eTravel registration: A mandatory digital travel system for all inbound travelers. You must register within 72 hours of arrival to receive a QR code that replaces the paper arrival and health declaration cards.

General Philippines entry requirements for US travelers are:

US passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date
Confirmed return or onward flight ticket to the country of origin or next destination
Evidence of sufficient financial funds for the duration of the stay

How can I stay in the Philippines for longer than 30 days?

If you wish to stay beyond 30 days, you can apply for a visa extension at any Bureau of Immigration (BI) office in the Philippines. The first extension allows for an additional 29 days (bringing your total to 59 days), and subsequent extensions can be made in increments of one, two, or six months. You can stay for a cumulative maximum of 36 months as a tourist before you're required to leave the country.

What is the Balikbayan privilege for US citizens?

Former Filipino citizens who are now naturalized US citizens, along with their US-citizen spouse and children, can stay in the Philippines visa-free for one year. To access this, you must travel together and present proof of former Filipino citizenship (like an old Philippine passport or birth certificate) to the immigration officer upon arrival. This status is a non-immigrant entry but allows for a much longer stay than the standard 30-day exemption.

Can I legally work in the Philippines while visiting on a visa-free entry?

No. You cannot legally work in the Philippines using a visa-free entry or a tourist visa extension. This includes local employment and long-term remote work for a Philippine-based company. To work legally, you must secure an Alien Employment Permit (AEP) from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and then convert your status to a 9(g) Pre-arranged Employee Visa.
